Goldie's is awesome. The yenta lox on a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese is my go to. It's $13 but it's SO GOOD.
Their vegetarian options aren't exactly clear, but the staff are super friendly and eager to help. And as it is a bagel shop, most of the products they sell do not have meat unless you're ordering the Lox or something like that.
I do not believe the bagels are gluten-free, and I do not believe the cream cheese is dairy-free. They rotate out cream cheese flavors and occasionally have flavors like peanut butter, but I have high hopes that they take every precaution in cleaning to make sure people with these allergies don't get cross-contamination, considering they are a small business. But you can also inform the person at the counter and they are super friendly and considerate.
Goldie's is in the center of downtown, so make sure to pay your meter when you park unless it's a Sunday. There's also a garage you can park in nearby.
Wheelchair accessibility looks decent, although I do not use a wheelchair so take it with a grain of salt. I don't believe the door to enter has an automatic open feature but the people ordering and working are kind, and I'm sure anyone would be happy to open the door for someone not able to open it themselves. There's an alright amount of space to move but it is a bit of a small store. There are raised counters, but also low tables with chairs and booths. I haven't been in the bathrooms but seeing how family and kindness oriented the business is, if they didn't have ADA stalls I would be shocked. I'll check the bathrooms and I will update the...
Read moreThe bagel was good and fresh, but the cashier which was a guy with glasses that took my order. He was rude. I didn’t understand anything about the menu or the order and he got confused with me and whispered to the young lady and said something smart about me I was very polite and I informed him that I didn’t know and that this was my first time here and I’m also black. It wasn’t nothing but a Caucasian atmosphere I just didn’t feel welcome at all And the one who made me unwelcome is the cashier guy when he whisper and said something very disrespectful about me because I didn’t understand the ordering. Would I go there again no never again but other than that the bagel was good but whatever the green stuff that they put on there was terriblebut the service was good. It was the cashier. He was very rude and very, not understanding. I just fell out of place as a black person there he was not willing to help me get my order correct by it being my...
Read moreThis is easily one of the best, if not the best, bagels I’ve ever had in my life. It’s been over 2 weeks since I stopped here as we were passing through and I’m still thinking about the breakfast sandwich I had, on a plain bagel no less. It was perfect, and the bagel was seriously incredible, to the point where we’re going to start driving I-70 vs I-80 from now on just so we can stop in Columbia and get Goldie’s.
Bonus points for the awesome coffee from Fretboard too — it was actually brewed well, and not watered down like coffee from other places tends to be.
Just keep doing what you’re doing Goldie’s, and I will keep coming back...
