Sparky's Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Columbia Township

I have usually had a pleasant experience at Sparky's; however, what I encountered yesterday was plain rude and uncalled for. I gave my order to a male employee who then walked away from the counter towards the back to put together my order. At this point, I decided that I also wanted caramel added to my order so I waited until he came back to inform him of this slight modification. He literally rolled his eyes and responded with frustration, "ugh, I will have to change the whole cup now". Initially, I thought he was being sarcastic and said that out of humor but that was absolutely not the case. Firstly, switching cups shouldn't be much of an issue and I was not aware that he would have to go through so much trouble just to add caramel syrup to my order. Secondly, this behavior is simply rude in a customer service industry and as a customer, I felt as if I couldn't modify my order once it was made which should not be the case. This experience definitely makes me hesitant to go back so this place will not be getting much business from me...

I could literally rave about Sparky's all day...their ice cream is absolutely fantastic. It always has such an amazingly creamy and smooth texture that perfectly fulfills my craving for ice cream on a hot summer day (or, honestly, even during a snowstorm in the dead of winter). The staff is spectacular and the paintings really give the place a unique and spunky vibe. And they have such a great selection of flavors, ranging from your traditional chocolate and vanilla to the most outlandish combinations that will satisfy your sweet tooth and inner child. To make it even better, their options regularly rotate, allowing you to try an array of new and unique flavors every season. I almost always go to Sparky's whenever I'm visiting a friend in Columbia, and my go-to order is a regular cup with half coffee and half lavender honey. However, I also regularly have their green tea, mango, blueberry, and sweet cream, and their Cinnamon Toast Crunch -- as well as their various alcoholic varieties -- are phenomenal occasional...

Sparky's is the best Ice Cream shop in the world period. This is a family regular for us and it has been since my wife and I were dating in college.

They have different flavors everyday (although there are some you can pretty much always rely on like Blueberry, Mango, Cookies and Cream and Sweat Cream). Some of their special flavors include 21+ only Ice Creams such as White Russian and Les Bourgeois Wine Flavors w. Chocolate. Other specials include Blueberry Muffin, Honey Graham, Smore, Chocolate Milk (different than regular chocolate), BBQ Sauce (and yes it is good), Green Tea, Peanut Butter and Chocolate, Lavender Honey and simply too many others to name.

The environment is totally eclectic and even perhaps a little trippy. That being said it is totally family friendly and welcoming. Oh and everyone must pet Sparky the dog...
