Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Columbia

I came home to Columbia to celebrate the end of Ramadan with my family, and after a beautiful Eid, my mother wanted to take me out to dinner. Unfortunately, our visit to Applebee’s turned into an incredibly disappointing and hurtful experience.

As we arrived, I overheard a server telling the hostess, “If you sit them in my section, I’m going home.” After we were seated, I noticed two other servers stepping away and whispering among themselves. Feeling unsettled, I approached the hostess to confirm whether I had misinterpreted the situation. Instead, my concerns were validated when the same server became aggressive, yelling for the manager, Robin. The hostility we faced was undeniable, and my mother—who wears a hijab—was left feeling unwelcome in a place that should serve all customers with respect.

To their credit, the manager did take action and sent the server home. However, the damage was already done. My mother lost her appetite, and what should have been a joyful meal turned into an experience of discrimination. No one should ever be made to feel unwelcome because of their faith or appearance.

I sincerely hope Applebee’s takes this incident seriously, ensuring that prejudice has no place in their restaurant. No guest should have to experience what we did. Respect and kindness should be the...

Today we had take out delivered from your neighborhood grille Applebee's Grill & Bar in columbia.

We used doordash to place the order and i must say i appreciate the added effort put into their menu design. i have previously worked with food delivery services and there are many steps that other chain restaurants did not have.

For example i ordered park shrimp and steak. when placing my order it asked how i wanted my steak cooked with degree choices such as “medium-rare hot inside” which is how I prefer my steaks. And when choosing my sides i ordered salad and broccoli,of which another restaurant advertised but did not have. THEN THERE WAS AN OPTION TO ADD CHEESE TO THE BROCCOLI! I did not take because i’m in diet but the fact that it was part of the menu was awesome.

The steak was so tender i finished my last bite in last fifteen minutes of the movie and it was still juicy. And honestly all the rest of the food was great as well! I had been avoiding ordering because their frequently changed menu which most of the time wasn’t good flavor wise. But tonight they have been redeemed.

I’ve visited this location on two separate occasions within the past month with different groups of friends, the most recent being this evening, and both times were a huge disappointment. The restaurant is severely understaffed and it seems like there is only 1-2 waiters for the entire place. Kitchen staff and management were on the dining room floor helping.

The food has gone downhill. This used to be one of my favorite spots for a quick bite but after these last two experiences, I will not be returning. Our food orders were messed up each time. I never received the two shots of Patron I ordered. Our appetizers came out at the same time as our main dishes. Our drinks were incorrect. The quality of the food was not the same as I remembered in the past. Service was very slow each time. Our waitress a few weeks ago tried her best but didn’t have the experience to not write down our orders which contributed to them being wrong. Our waiter tonight was horrible and I’ll just leave it at that.
