People who generally complain about Rush's are people who tend to leave 1 star reviews on a McDonald's because their french fry's were cold one time when visiting that location. Here's a real review from someone who has been there more than once.
Location: Off of Garner's Ferry Rd it's pretty easy to get to and there is a lot of parking.
Service: Excellent all around. In the multiple times that I have been to this location I haven't had a bad experience with anyone behind the counter or out on the floor. I'm usually greeted with a smile and a friendly hello or something similar before I get my order. I've never had an incorrect order at this location (even when removing items from a burger), and you get this food extremely fast. The aspect of Rush's is that your food is pretty much ready when you order it. The staff work behind on an assembly line of sorts and immediately start putting together your food as soon as it is called out by the person at the counter. I think the longest I've ever had to wait in restaurant is maybe five minutes. Drive thru is also extremely fast and just as accurate which is great considering a lot of the drive thru's in the area are slow and inaccurate a lot of the time.
Cleanliness: Going to knock down a bit on the review because this location is pretty old. You can tell by the look and the tables, chairs, etc in the place that it has been around and gets service because everything is really worn down. The restrooms are the worst and need to be completely remodeled. The smell that is present in the restroom is from years of use at the location and it is rather unpleasant to deal with when you're trying to use it. Generally the main part of the restaurant is free of trash and the tables are normally clean with a staff member wiping them down as soon as someone leaves or shortly there after. I don't feel like I'm going to catch something from being at the location, but it's not the greatest either.
Food / Drinks: The premise of the restaurant is "Food Fast" and that's what you're going to get. If you want to have a gourmet burger then you should look elsewhere. You have a basic burger (bun, burger, mayo, pickle, tomato, lettuce) that can be added onto with the likes of bacon, chili, and other various condiments. Everything here is À la carte so don't think of combos when you come here. There is also fried chicken and a few other entrees here, but your primary choice is going to be a burger. The food is nothing to write home about but it is also not as bad as others would claim. If you come in here with the aspiration of getting this amazing burger, sandwich, or chicken then you're going to be let down overall. What you do get is a pretty standard burger that tastes pretty good when you need a quick lunch fix. Add the side of fries and cole slaw that comes with it when you order a basket and you'll be in a good spot. I do have to agree with others and say that the price is a bit steep for what you're paying for, but if you're looking for a cheap burger then the McDonlad's is down the road if you want that choice.
Overall I tend to want to go to Rush's rather than other burger places in the area. Knock off a few points because the food could be better, it's a bit expensive, and the restaurant could use some upgrades and you got...
Read moreWe came into town for the weekend and my boyfriend raved about this place to me because he used to live in Columbia. He was excited for me to try Rush's and he was excited to eat here again after many years away. The cashier was not very friendly at all and actually got kind of rude at one point, and she did not get our order right. I am a plus size woman and I hated that there were no options other than sitting in a booth that was extremely tight (you could not move the tables)or chairs that could not move that were even more tight. It was pretty embarrassing to say the least. The burgers were ok, they just lacked flavor. The French fries had no salt on them. They gave us warm tea, there was hardly any ice, and when we went back for refills, all the ice had melted, they refilled the cup with hot tea and gave us no ice at all. At this point we were really disappointed in the service and food....and my boyfriend was really disappointed that this is the place he hyped us up about and we chose to eat here rather than going to any other restaurant on our last meal...
Read moreIt's been about 5 years since I moved away from columbia and had Rushs. I can say it's still exactly the same, exactly as I remember and 100% as good as it's always been. The orders are cooked fresh, accurate and great customer service and some of the best fast food customer service around. I'm glad to have had them again and also glad to see nothing's changed so all I all I've been eating at Rushs since I was a teenager so it's been atleast 30 years now and to be able to say they are exactly as good as they were then is saying something. The other thing I like is consistency and I can go to any Rushs in town or between Camden and lexington and all over Columbia any time of day and they are just as good as any location. I dont care who it is every restaurant fast food or not could learn a lesson from Rushs about how to get everything right on every level. Well Chik fil a is equal except they do it with chicken but they're the only thing to compare in...
