On a Saturday night around 6 p.m. I was surprised how empty they were considering the crowds at neighboring eateries. We like Mediterranean food, so we decided to try it rather than driving to our favorite place, Nazareth on date night.
Started with the waitress Sky messing up our drink order. I ordered a diet soda, she brought Iced Tea. Not even close, though it was the same thing my wife ordered. The menu looked good, I ordered the Flavor Savor, my wife ordered the Chicken Sambusek Plate. The Sambusek plate was supposed to come with a choice of dressing, a choice was never given, they gave whatever they wanted. My wife had indicated she didn't like lemon when ordering her iced tea, the dressing brought was a heavy on the lemon disgusting oil stuff that ruined the salad.
If that was the end of the badness, the experience might have been salvaged. But the meat on both plates were burnt bad enough that the burn flavor is all we got from the chicken and the beef. The Sambusek came in a pita that could not be cut without major force because it was so rubbery. The pita bread with my hummus was hard to chew because it was so rubbery. The falafel was over cooked too. About the only thing that I would have considered decent was the hummus.
To make matters worse, the waitress projected blame back onto us when we mentioned we didn't like the food as we were leaving and the plate had nearly everything on it with just a couple of bites tried, even if she was trying to be nice by saying sorry. It was sorry we didn't like it, not sorry they messed it up. First time in over a decade that I have been compelled to leave a .01 tip.
If this was my first time trying this type of food, I would avoid it like the plague. Since I have been to a couple of good places, I know to just avoid this place and drive to Gahanna next time to visit Nazareth, where we normally frequent on date nights when we want...
Read moreI ate a delicious meal yesterday [7-22-2022] at Aladdin's Eatery Grandview.
I had been planning to eat at a nearby Mediterranean restaurant [that I will not name here]; that nearby Mediterranean restaurant had been extremely crowded [the dining room had been quite small and most of the tables had filled up while I had been waiting; I then noticed that there had been nine people standing in line at the ordering counter] so I decided to eat instead, only a few feet away, at Aladdin's Eatery Grandview.
The Aladdin's Eatery Grandview dining room is at least twice the size of the dining room of the nearby Mediterranean restaurant; there had been only three customers at Aladdin's Eatery Grandview the entire time while I had been there.
I have eaten at three different Aladdin's Eatery locations in central Ohio over the years so that "brand" of restaurant is already familiar to me; the food at Aladdin's Eatery Grandview had been as delicious as I remember from previous visits.
My food choice at Aladdin's Eatery Grandview had been Aladdin's Lamb Rolled [grilled lamb seasoned with herbs and spices, topped with tomatoes, onions, greens, turnips, pickles, and tahini lemon dressing].
One nice thing about my Aladdin's Lamb Rolled sandwich had been that the "burrito" [which is not the correct word but I will use it in this review] had been cooked on a grill immediately before serving so I had been able to eat the entire sandwich outside of the foil wrapper without any of it falling onto my plate.
If you are looking for some delicious Mediterranean food [their menu has many choices], I strongly recommend Aladdin's Eatery [Grandview...
Read moreI lived in Columbus for 20 years and always loved Aladdin's. When I returned for a visit, a friend suggested we meet there. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Our server seemed to know absolutely nothing about the menu or the availability of items. My friend finally gave up after 2 white wines were unavailable and our server couldn't tell her anything about the others. Each required him to go check. Each time we ordered he would forget what we ordered and come back to check. And we ordered nothing that was unusual. We got hummus and Veggies. First came the pita by itself. (still no plates, napkins or utensils. I just took some off another table). Then we got veggies. After some time we finally got Hummus. Veggies were just okay. Hummus was just okay -- kind of runny. I ordered Jasmine's Favorite - always my favorite, and it was really not good. Tasteless, a little dry. Lamb was not tasty at all. I asked for some sauce (which was supposed to come with it) and of course he had to check. I had Tahini sauce. When he came by to see if everything was okay, I indicated that I wasn't enjoying it much and asked for Garlic sauce. "I'll check" was, of course, his response. Then he brings me the menu and points out that it says "choice of Tahini or Garlic sauce". And says, "so the way I read it it's one or the other". It was as if the guy had never even eaten in a restaurant, let alone served in one. This is the only time in my life I ever left a zero tip and it was well deserved. I will not be eating in Aladdin's again. How far you...
