Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Columbus

Came in and was sat down immediately and already off to a good start! The server is very nice and outgoing, then me and my fiancé order some the special Valentine’s Day drinks and at this point we also decided to order our appetizer and food too. Well we ended up waiting 10-15 minutes just for those 2 drinks as we watched them sit on the bar waiting to be picked up and when they arrive both don’t have a single drop of alcohol in them. We drank our “valentine’s cocktail” (it was literally just lemonade(good lemonade at least😂), and we’re waiting for our server to comeback around to tell her and order another drink. She didn’t come back for another 15 minutes, when she came back she asked if we wanted another drink so my fiancé ordered a beer and I asked to see the drink menu again, didn’t get the menu until 5-10 minutes later all of this and we still haven’t gotten our appetizer. At this point we’ve been here for 45 minutes. We’re looking around wondering where the beer is that my fiancé ordered (we waited 10+ minutes for the beer) and where our appetizer is. The server then brings our meals to the table then says they forgot to get/pour the beer so we just said nvm on the beer and other drink I was going to order. We still never got our appetizer at this point so were just like whatever and start eating. The ONLY thing that was good was the fries, they were hot while both of our sandwiches were room temp. After we finish eating (we also ate within 8 minutes) the server asks if we want another drink to which we both reply no because we just wanna get out of there, so she takes our plates and walks off. We wait for about 10 minutes before she comes back to ask us if we want anything else I said just the check please. She didn’t come back with the check for another 15 minutes! She never apologized for the delay either :( Luckily we weren’t charged for our appetizer that never came but we were charged for our “cocktails” that came without any alcohol. Also it wasn’t that busy either, maybe 1/3 of the restaurant was in use while the other 2/3 was empty tables. We weren’t expecting the fastest service or anything but for 2 people to be at a restaurant that isn’t even busy for an hour and a half is a little crazy. I would not recommend this Applebees to anyone. Fun little date...

We arrived Tuesday before 4 pm. When the hostess seat us towards the back of the restaurant even though the front was completely empty and I have to use a walker and I went with my Mother. The hostess didn't even ask where she seated us was okay, just place the menus down and took off. My mom had trouble sitting down at the booth. When the waiter came he moved us further back right next to a large table with all the old food and dirty dishes on there. We did not see any large party leaving the parking lot or restaurant when we came in. I think that dirty stuff was there for a while and would of been there if I didn't say anything. The reason I did say something about the place being filthy is because the table the waiter put our menu down and wanted us to sit there was covered in some pink syrup stuff and he was not going to wipe it off till I mention that. Then I look behind as I was seating down and the hostess sat the couple behind us at the first table. I guess they make the couple with one person who has a walker and an elderly person all the way back. When we received our drinks the ice tea's were very weak, so the waiter put on a fresh pot, which we did appreciate. The waiter must of been having a tough day since he was not friendly at all and the entire time he talked or acted as if he maybe had a migraine. He never asked how our appetizer, salad or dinner was. The food was excellent except for my Caesar salad lettuce was half brown. We would of order dessert too, but he didn't ask and brought the bill and ask if we wanted boxes before we were done. I assume that meant he wanted us out even though they really were not that busy. We usually go to the Marion location since we live right in the middle, however we were out near Lewis Center, which is right around the corner from Polaris, so we went there. It might be a while before we go back to that location. Just hope whomever is reading this has a better time than we did. Like I said earlier the food was cooked to perfection and the kitchen gave my Mom cold fries with her burger so our waiter did have them make a fresh...

Naturally, Applebee's has always been there for us. "What to eat? I dunno." Applebee's has your back. Not only do they do dinner, if you're lucky enough to get the itch for reasonably priced food items, you may get to see a show as well! The prerequisites for this however, are a weeknight, preferably after 7:30 pm ("Things get REAL crazy after 7:30" -Patrick Star). It also seems to be conducive if the person doing the show has fewer than the industry standard 32 teeth in their mouth; like, less than 27. If all of those are met, sit back and watch. There is a substantial chance that the entertainer will arrive to the restaurant already inebriated, wanting more. Give them an hour, and about 6 shots of whatever firewater is available, and maybe (just maybe) you'll get to see him go into a blind rage after being cut off for terrifying the well to do teenage waiter who is just trying to make it to 11:00 pm. You'll learn all sorts of things! Like how they are a "disabled veteran" and that "the establishment is [REDACTED]." However, they never specified which establishment... just "the" establishment as a whole, I suppose. If you the reader can explain to me the correlation of their stupor and their purported veteran status, please let me know, as I have not been able to put the pieces together. Otherwise, the restaurant had a good laugh, and reassured the staff we all were okay. The entertainer must have been a magician of sorts as well, because my wife and myself experienced almost immediate explosive diarrhea when they left the parking lot. Coincidence? You decide. Luckily the bathrooms were up to the task of "bomb squad" as hellfire rained out of my body, with no end in sight. Even so much that it has carried into the following day, even as I write this review. I pray their curse is lifted soon, as I have brought my work laptop into the bathroom to put in a full day's work. If you've made it this far, make sure you give this Applebee's a fair chance. They are a fine, well to do establishment....
