AWOL Bar — Restaurant in Columbus

My favourite neighbourhood gay bar in Columbus! Features a beautiful courtyard patio, flanked by the main bar in front and a dance hall in the rear, which is open on weekends and during events.

The bar staff is courteous and aesthetically pleasing. Drinks are cheap and generously served. The clientele is diverse, ranging from folks around the Olde Towne East neighbourhood, as well as a variety of bears, drag queens, young professionals, etc. coming from a wide range of ages.

I've always felt welcome at AWOL; the venue maintains a pleasant and safe environment for folks from all walks of life, which enhances the diversity and social atmosphere in the venue.

AWOL hosts a variety of weekly events, such as karaoke nights, drag shows, weekend dance nights, and community events. The layout of the bar affords ample space to move around, explore, and wander from room to room.

As Parsons Ave continues to undergo an urban renaissance, I look forward to seeing AWOL grow and develop further as an outstanding queer venue...

(Disclaimer) There was a man who ordered a quesadilla with no onion instead he received chopped scallions. I spoke with him and asked him about his business at this established and he said that he was a famous writer and reviewer. He had mentioned how they completely ignored his request for no onions. And in front of me spit his food out. Continued to tell me about how he was a famous book writer and experienced reviewer. Shortly after I asked him for his credentials he fled from the establishment. Be careful of the reviews you read. This is a great LGBTQIA BAR. all are welcome. Especially pups. can't speak on the food cause I've never ordered any but as far as everything else goes it is the best gay bar in Columbus. I love very many of them but this one has to be the best of all. Especially the barracks 😋 there's always events and they try to keep you cozy. sooooooo GREAT to experience a GAY BAR in the CLASSIC TRADITION... FUN, WILD, COOL, ENERGETIC... with a GREAT SENSE of COMMUNITY !!!!... the HEART of the WHOLE JOINT is HOSTESS/COAT CHECK/SPIRITUAL ADVISOR "MAMA D"... she made ME (and EVERYONE!) feel WELCOME... she is the PERSONIFICATION of "A BLAST".... and her COMMENTS/QUIPS/STORIES are THE BEST... simply HYSTERICAL !!!!... i REEEEEEALLY ENJOYED my TIME at AWOL... i attended on BUSY NIGHTS and i even returned for some LATE NIGHT DRINKS on a MONDAY !!!!... i had a FULL ON BLAST every time i was THERE !!!!!... AWOL is "THERE" for YOU !!!!!... and i now REGARD it as one of my FAVES in the USA !!!!... once again... GO TO HAVE A FANTASTIC NIGHT, but STAY for.. the LEGENDARY...
