El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Columbus

I am in town for business and my usual “go to” when traveling is Mexican cuisine. It’s one of my favorites for the simple and fresh ingredients. I had dinner here last night. This was not fresh food and I paid the price all morning. The service was good. The atmosphere is good. I ordered fajita quesadilla with refried beans and rice. The refried beans and rice were luke warm. The rice had excellent flavor but was not fresh. The rice was shrunk and stale on the outside, indicates reheating. The quesadilla was enormous. There was a massive amount of vegetables and chicken and a very small amount of queso. The ingredients of the quesadillas was what I’ll call “sweating”. Pool of liquid inside causing the tortilla to be gummy. I only ate about a quarter of it after taking a look on the inside. Clearly not fresh food and based on the fact that I’ve been sick all morning, the food is old and should have been disposed. I hope someone has the desire to investigate the kitchen procedures and correct any errors in food safe handling. This place seems to be on the verge of collapsing and is in need of new management. I hope issues are addressed and no one else is made ill, could be serious...

I’ve gone here plenty of times and have never had a problem. Went in today with a friend, got seated pretty quickly. Our waiter came took our drink order and everything. Once we ordered maybe 10 minutes go by and we have another person bring us 2 plates of rice and only 1 plate of tacos. I told the guy that we still have a plate of tacos we needed. Well the first plate he brought out was wrong and about 15 minutes go by and still never got the other plate of tacos and also never saw the waiter. About 20 minutes later our waiter comes and ask how’s everything and I told him that we still never got our other plate of tacos and that hers was wrong. And he literally goes “ what do you want me to do about it,” in a rude way. I wasn’t upset at all I just wanted to get everything correct until he started acting rude. Finally we had fresh tacos come out for both of us. Our waiter never checked on us after he said he’d go put in another order. About 30-40 minutes later he comes over with out checks. I’m not the one to complain or leave a review but when you say “ what do you want me to do about it” in a very rude way and only check on us once, I’m going to...

Food and service was awful at this location. Wait time was ridiculous and there was not a lot of people for the extremely long wait.-------- As you can see the general manager message me at the bottom. I contacted her ( Susi) via email as she requested. Never a response. It's clear that this location is aware of the problems they are having. She left a nice message on my review as if she was going to make it right. When I respond leaving details of complaint, the date, and last four of my credit card number (so she could see my order). She never respond back. Her management professionalism is about as horrible as the service at this location. My advice to you is not to go to this location. They give El Vaquero a very bad reputation. Soda machine has all soda tasting like mildew and the food and service was horrible. No need to pretend to make it right. You have lost me as a customer for good. I'm guaranteed this location won't be in operation much longer. If you visit this location you will definitely not be coming back. Truly was a waste of money. We would have been better off going to taco bell down the street. Cheaper, better Mexican food...
