Situated on a quiet corner at the edge of the German Village, this little neighborhood bar is set up in a historic building and well-poised to hold its own among other high-caliber bars on High Street.
Often full but rarely overflowing, Lawbird’s creative and oft-reinvented menus keep a cultured crowd coming back for more, with crafty themes and a handful of mainstays that maintain a sense of familiarity for those who like to dip in from time to time to bask in the rosy neon glow — my personal favorites are the $5 mini martini (they default to an olive, but I always order them with a twist) and the Dole Whip.
There is no happy hour but with prices as reasonable as these, that’s just fine. Limited food and snacks are available, and while parking can sometimes be a pain (street only) it’s often free so long as you can find a spot among the brick jungle that is this block of the city.
I wish I knew about the venue; the seasoned wooden floors tell a story that stretches back before the bar, but time is entitled to its secrets. It is enough to simply enjoy the place as it is now and enjoy excellent drinks, good company, then move on to the next destination of the night. Where next? Who knows. When you’re here, you’re not...
Read moreI've been to Law Bird now three times - each time has been a great time. There's so much personality that oozes out from all the details built into the establishment - from their menu to the decor. It all gave me this funky vibe of laid-back fun, reminding me of relaxing with old friends.
Their menu states, "Our staff is super dope," which from several interactions I can attest to. Service has been fantastic, with everyone being particularly knowledgeable about the entire menu - which is great since I ask many questions due to indecisiveness.
Grab a mini-martini while browsing the menu (check out the thundergun espresso, it's fantastic), and order all of the food items. But honestly, there's not an item on the menu that has disappointed, food and drinks alike.
If you have an interest in going to a fun new place to drink that feels like grabbing a drink with great friends, don't hesitate to make a stop here. I'll certainly...
Read moreWe are new to Columbus and wandered in here very awkwardly and the super nice bartenders immediately welcomed us and seated us at an open spot at the bar. Their sign says "cocktails and snacks" so I kind of was doubtful we could get a full meal but was mistaken! The cocktails were delicious, well balanced and clearly taste is their #1 concern. I love sherry and was happy to see they use it in quite a few of their drinks. The food was also AMAZING, listed as small plates but still good sized portions. The beef tartar, pea toast and a riff on deviled eggs were all well prepared and "high end" creative dishes with an accessible price tag. I also like the decor, it sounds kind of goofy but the furnishings reminded me a little of elementary school (in a good way) very comfortable and unique but still hip. Definitely a great experience and the people working here are...
