I originally decided to not leave a review awhile back to be nice, regarding my horrible experience. But after my friends and coworkers I recommended this service to came forward and shared their unpleasant experiences with me, I decided I should now share mine.
There was constantly an issue every single week.
Whether it’s hard vegetables ends in my food, items that are were not labeled that I have to go back to the site and search what they go with, receiving bruised produce, occasionally given instructions on the meals, having items from my order missing, receiving items I did not order, receiving items labeled as vegetarian or vegan yet had meat, etc.
I always went to pick up my meals because they would never delivery within the window of time specified. There was an occasion where I went to pick up meals and called right at 6pm (starting time for pick up). With only a few other cars around me who also came to pick up. I had to wait over 30 mins to get my meals, while several others who arrived after me received theirs in a timely manner. And after that I come home to find that I have meals missing and meals I didn’t order.
Meal services are supposed to save me time, instead this was wasting it. Having to check every time that I have all my meals, check what goes with what on the site (which also wasn't always accurate) and check that they don’t have meat. Especially when they say they cater to several types of diets. I would even take the extra step to specify in the notes when submitting my order that all the items ordered are vegetarian or vegan. If they choose to cater to other diets, they need to be on top of it. For example if I eat meat as someone who is vegetarian, I will throw up or have diarrhea since its foreign to my body; which happened. If I was allergic to meat, I would've had worse symptoms. Attached is a photo of one of the many "vegetarian" labeled meals I ordered that had meat. I was sick to my stomach after a few bites and unfortunately didn't notice meat right away as it was thinly sliced prosciutto. Also including photos of the bruised produce and unlabeled items, which also happened multiple times.
I was very considerate with the mishaps and made several allowances. But it got to the point where it was too many and just wasting money. They definitely have a lot to figure out. This was actually my second time giving them a shot.
I hope they are...
Read moreGot my first box. I quite like this service. They objectively don't have the same menu size as company with national brands, but that's the nature of shopping local. The options they have strike a good balance of familiar-with-broad-appeal and unique-and-notable-stuff-I-wouldn't-have-thought-to-make. The meat on the dishes are good portions as well, the kind of portion I'd cook myself. If I thought it'd help, I'd remove a star until they put the pumpkin gnocchi back on the menu.
The meals are 11 to 16 dollars each... So about the same as Panera. But you're getting more food and it's much better. I described it to a friend as the same level as a really good restaurant but not one that's trying to be pretentious about it. Stuff I could cook but, if I'm honest, I'm not gonna ever cook. Haha. I'm also going to save money on wasted food. It's easy to overbuy as a single person.
On a very good note, prices are available up front. No need to create an account and play 50 questions just to add the prices and me any items. That's very important to me.
One negative for them is that they don't have much by the way of vegetarian options. Doesn't bother me since I'm not a vegetarian. I do eat vegetarian proteins as regularly as I do meat. So adding them wouldn't hurt me either. I don't think this would be a problem for people who just want a few meals a week for a couple people. My friend from earlier is a vegetarian and wants to order. She will probably add on to my order when she doesn't have enough to get delivery, and I'll run the down the street to her. But she is limited by the lack of vegetarian options. The cost analysis doesn't quote work out the...
Read moreI LOVE this company! The food is delicious and the serving sizes are perfect for me. I love the diversity of the menu and having the ability to customize some of the meals with options to make meals low carb, pick the protein I want or to add on extras (give me all the sauce!). I order a lot of "bulk" options and LOVE the "build your own" option so I can customize just about anything I want. Their online ordering process is easy and the meal descriptions include all the ingredients, allergen and nutrient information. Though they offer delivery, I choose pick up because I live close and it is a breeze! Call the number provided and someone will bring out your order in a matter of minutes. Luxe and Lemons saves me so much time and energy from menu planning and shopping and especially cooking. I love being able to eat exciting, healthy, diverse foods for all of my meals (and don't forget...
