I’m a frequent at Plank’s. Really am. But the last two times I went, it was a HUGE disappointment. I want to emphasize, again, that I’m a frequent. One of my favorite places to go with my husband. Amazing vibes, amazing ambiance.
But these last two times were a fiasco. First I went with my parents by Nov 14th, when I found a hair in my lunch. Didn’t make a fuss, just called the waitress and informed about that - they didn’t charge me but I didn’t have a proper lunch, didn’t even offered a replacement or something else.
Well. I went yesterday at around 2pm with my husband. Will start by saying that was the first time we felt we were not welcomed in there. I would never imagine this happening in my favorite place.
Second: the burger felt old, like done with some kind of old meat. It didn’t feel right and it was fairly weird, but giving we were being mistreated, we just ate in silence to not cause more disturbance. No one wants to feel like someone is acting like they are doing you a favor by not giving you proper treatment when you are clearly going to pay for it.
And then my onions were dripping in oil and my husbands they weren’t even battered or well cooked. See for yourself in the picture I’m attaching.
I’m not sure if I have the confidence to go back again, I really can’t. We decide to have a dinner or lunch out per week and we simply lost our day yesterday by going. I’m sad to say that I’m not sure if I trust the place anymore, which breaks my heart. We will always have nice walks until we get to Plank’s, but I guess not anymore… no one comes to us and actually talk to us and see what’s happening and what they are doing to improve. Just remove stuff from the bill and you are good to go. Is not what I want. I want and need someone to come and say that they care and they will take care of it. Not just take something off and that’s...
Read moreUsually we really love going to planks because their food is good for the price and typically the service is fast and good. However, our most recent experience was very lacking in customer service. I have been working in customer service (specifically the hospitality industry) for the past 18 years and know what it’s like to deal with customers on a daily basis. That said, you still have to show up to your job and do the job you’re paid for and at the very least show a moderate level of respect for your PAYING guests… After all, that is how you make your money. Tonight, my family and I were sitting on their covered patio, trying to enjoy a dinner, but the music was so overpoweringly loud that we couldn’t even hear each other over it. We asked several times to turn the music down and we’re told that because it was trivia night they weren’t going to be able to so - we understood that, but asked before trivia started at least can we get the music turned down so that we could hear. After all, trivia was about 30 minutes from even starting. What was the harm? After waiting about 25 minutes for it to be turned down to a reasonable level we walked in and asked the bartender. The bartender literally shook his head and said it’s not going to happen, and then walked away. That was it no other explanation no taking the time to listen or care or show respect for your customer. “It’s not going to happen.” But truly what’s worse than that is that he just walked away… What a terrible way to treat someone who’s paying to dine at your establishment. Again, I understand havjng bad days and difficult customers, but a simple request to turn the music down did not illicit that response. I will definitely not be returning to planks, when previously we had gone at least...
Read moreI ate a very pleasant late lunch [or early supper] earlier today [7-15-2022] at Plank's Bier Garten at 888 S. High St. in the "German Village" neighborhood of Columbus.
I had been visiting the AT&T store at 900 S. High St. and had already been aware that that Plank's Bier Garten is right across the street from the AT&T store [and also within a few feet of my COTA bus stop home] so I decided to eat there after having visited the AT&T store.
My food choice today had been Wienerschnitzel [seasoned and tenderized pork loin, breaded and fried; served with a creamy caper sauce, German potato salad, and sauerkraut].
I remember having heard the word "wienerschnitzel" many times in the past but had completely forgotten what "wienerschnitzel" actually is so I decided to order and eat that food item today.
Not only had the wienerschnitzel been delicious; the German potato salad and the sauerkraut [that had been served with the wienerschnitzel] had been wonderful; the servings of all three items had been quite ample. The "creamy caper sauce" [served in a small container] had been a great addition to my meal.
Plank's Bier Garten appears to primarily be a bar [at least that had been the case while I had been there this afternoon]; they also serve delicious food ]though that fact would not necessarily be obvious to the casual observer].
Plank's Bier Garten is run by the same people who run Plank's Cafe and Pizzeria at 743 Parsons Ave. [where I have eaten several times in the past]; the food at both locations...
