Short version: The food was just ok. The manager was extremely rude and ruined the whole experience for me from the beginning. Embarrassed to have brought my out of town guests here today. Would not recommend wasting your time or money here.
The long version: My fiancé and her family came into town for the weekend and we decided to eat here today at 2 pm since her sister read the great reviews and was really excited about eating here even before they drove into town. From the moment we walked in the person who greeted us was very short and told us our party of 7 can't sit together because they won't bring 2 tables together. Those were her words. We can't sit together. (I later found out this rude lady was the manager.) There were 2 tables on the opposite side of the restaurant and she said we can sit there. I said that's fine. I noticed one of the empty tables in the middle towards the back of the restaurant was close to another table where a guy was getting ready to leave. I asked if we can sit at both of these tables and the lady snapped back saying we can't put 2 tables together. I said that I understand that but I was simply asking if we can sit at these two tables next to one another instead of on opposite sides of the restaurant. She said that's fine. We waited for what seemed like quite some time until we were finally brought the menu. I noticed the party of 4 that came in and were seated after us received their menus promptly and were brought drinks. I felt like I did something wrong. Finally our waitress said she would be with us soon. Short time later the rude manager brought us menus and took our drink order. Later I noticed that one of the large parties across from us that were all sitting together on one large table left and the manager was taking the tables apart. There was another table close to us that left as well. I asked the server why they were able to sit together and we couldn't. She explained that they can't put tables together that would obstruct the isle. I understood that but I didn't understand why the manager was rude and snappy. I had to ask if we could move to the empty table on the side so that our party could sit together. Our waitress said yes. I told her I wanted to speak with the manager regarding the rude lady and she told me that the rude lady was actually the manager.
My issues: 1) Why was the manager rude and snappy? She simply could have just explained that if we were willing to wait that maybe we can sit together. We would have gladly waited. 2) Why did I need to ask if they can accommodate us after more empty tables freed up? This is not customer service.
I have worked as a server for 6 years of my life and I know and understand customer service. This manager clearly doesn't understand that. On top of that the food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. This is my second time to this restaurant but this did it for me. This place is not worth it and I most certainly will...
Read morePlucked Up Chicken & Biscuits is a downtown Columbus, GA breakfast/lunch eatery, of course, specializing in chicken and biscuits. Serving breakfast and lunch for over a decade, Plucked Up is a sister restaurant of Mark’s City Grill and Hunter’s Pub & Steakhouse, all concepts of restauranteer Mark Jones.
My husband is from Columbus, GA, so we have a tradition of visiting for Thanksgiving. We stayed a little longer than normal to attend a family mini-reunion held at the nearby Hampton Inn Columbus Downtown. We were starving and needed a quick bite to eat, and Plucked Up was the closest non-fast food restaurant open.
Plucked Up is an intimate eatery with exposed brick walls showcasing brightly colored, eclectic meets country decor. The wait staff was super friendly and welcoming despite a packed eatery. Our to-go order came out so quickly, I didn’t finish taking my usual quantity of pictures
We both ordered Plucked Up Biscuits (my husband added an egg to his). I am actually shaking my head as to why we hadn’t been to Plucked Up during prior visits to Columbus. The biscuits were buttery and fluffy, the chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the pineapple marmalade had the right level of sweetness. I was eyeing the biscuit beignets being served as we walked out, and something tells me that the chelsea (fried chicken, pimento cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly) will be...
Read moreTwo of us for lunch: I ordered a chicken salad wrap which came with a side (I requested home fries). The wrap was cut in two halves, one on top of the other. I ate the top half and half fries. When I picked up the second piece and was ready to bite it, I noticed something hanging from it: a pretty thick, long black HAIR!. Most of the hair was stuck on the wrap and some was dangling from it. I got very disgusted and put the wrap back on the plate. I called the server and showed it to her. Her only reaction was: "OKAY" in a very perky tone as if it wasn't a big deal, and then she added: "you don't want anotherone, do you?" No apology what's so ever! Naturally I said no, that I was disgusted and did not want anything else. She took the plate and left. We approched the register to pay and she did say she had to adjust the bill so I assumed she was taking my meal off. My friend paid and we left. It wasn't until last night that I looked at the bill and realized she only took half of my meal off, not the whole thing! I guess she figured that I did eat half of my food! I worked in a restaurant for 16 years: the server first and then my managers, would have personally apologized to the customer and on top of that, they would have zeroed the whole bill, even my friend's! Useless to say I will not go back to THE PLUCKED UP CHICKEN & BISCUITS in...
