My husband and I booked this hotel over the Memorial Day weekend for a four (4) night stay and have decided that this will not be a hotel we will use for future stays in the area. Here are our positives and negatives of this hotel.
Positives: Great location to all: Riverwalk area with children's playground, zip lining, water rafting and kayaking, restaurants, churches. A handful of staff who actually DO their job even when management is not on site. -Room. In room refrigerator and a safe were nice amenities. Walk in rainshower and large countertop to place toiletry items -Community sidewalk market on Saturday's offering a nice selection of food truck food and handmade items for purchase.
Negatives: -Felt a bit transient; a one night stay type of hotel. We spoke with one staffer who told us many who stay do not add their room guest names. On one afternoon, a woman came screaming from her room that a man had just hit her. I did not stick around for the details, but we heard he was arrested. Housekeeping staff needs a manager! We were told that rooms received a full cleaning on the third day of our stay. After checking this 2x with the front desk (one the evening before and the second on the morning of), we went out and returned to find that the room was not cleaned. As a matter of fact, the person responsible for cleaning our room parked their cart outside our door, but never entered. When we initially came up to the room, we saw the cart and decided to go back downstairs to wait. We returned shortly thereafter only to find the cart still outside our door. We entered our room, and no housekeeper was present, nor did they ever come un to clean. Shout out here to WANDA, who came to our rescue to clean the room. Wanda was not responsible for our portion of the hallway but took on the task with a willingness to help rectify the situation herself. She is someone who will hopefully be recognized by management. Breakfast/Food. My suggestion is to go elsewhere even if it is less convenient. There are better, more affordable choices in the area. Flying Biscuit, Iron Bank, Plucked Up, etc. The display was nice, but the overall quality was hurting for $15; only the buffet was offered. In addition, be warned that the woman who oversees the kitchen and prepared the hot food on the next morning of our arrival, will scold you if you get coffee in the morning earlier than the official start time, even if the urns are up and ready. Front desk staff. Great at smiling and assuring you things will be taken care of when you can find them at their post. Suggestion, to management, there is not much foot traffic at the hotel. If you want to keep your staff at their post, provide them with seating, a stool at a minimum. Most times, when we went down to the desk, the staff member was not at the desk. A call bell is needed. I also must express this as a safety concern. While the area appears to be overall safe, there were still unhoused persons roaming the streets, one appearing to have mental/drug related issues. Without the staff to monitor the front door and key control elevator, anyone can access the building or the common areas. -Room. (a) Not soundproofed properly, thin walls - we could hear our wall mates tv and conversations sometime until 2 a.m.; (b) We were not a fan of the very minimalist style. A long bench and a small all in one rack replaced a proper dresser to store clothing for extended stays ;(c) view from 2nd floor was of parking lot and do not believe view from 6th would have improved that fact. (d) TV was across from bed but could not be viewed comfortable from couch, no tilt/turn bracket.
Overall, because of safety concerns and lack of proper employee management, we do not recommend this hotel.
It does not appear that management reviews online reviews, but if they do we give a shout out to two people we consider top notch employees Wanda of Housekeeping-5/26 who went above and beyond and the Thursday-5/23 late evening front desk attendant who was so friendly and professional on the night of...
Read moreI am a Marriott Bonvoy member, and I travel all over as part of my job, staying in hotels weeks at a time. I have had good experiences staying at your hotel for both work and leisure. I am, however not pleased with my most recent stay. On 10/14/2023, I checked into AC Hotels in Marriott in Columbus Georgia. My initial impression was very good. The room was sleek, updated, and appealing. My impression was slightly dampened when I realized I did not have a microwave in my room. In my experience, that can be the case sometimes, depending on the room. No big deal, I figured there would be one in the common areas. I spoke with someone at the front desk, who explained to me that there were no microwaves in the entire hotel, not even in the kitchen! It was also brought o my attention that there was a small window of time allotted for breakfast, which did not work for me, due to it being dine in only and my need to leave to get to my assigned office. The food options were disappointing, especially considering there was no way to heat your food, if you wanted to eat your food later. There was also an incident where I and other guest were locked outside, and unable to get in because our keys did not work. The gate was also locked and the only way to get out was to climb the gate, which i was certainly not going to do, as I was wearing a dress. Also, I might add, that would have been a liability to the establishment had someone climbed over the gate and became injured. We resorted to banging on the door. We were out there for a while as there were no staff in the area at the time. Finally, someone opened the door, which I believe was another guest. I immediately went to the front desk. The front desk staff informed me that it was known about the door, and they normally keep it open when the bar is open, and someone can see the guest outside. This does not make sense because the bar does not open until 5. That is a long period of time for people to become locked out there. The scenario could be that someone ends up locked out there for hours!
There was also an issue with my room. The people above me sound like they were stomping and dragging furniture all night, which made it hard to sleep. I went to the front desk to see if I could be moved to a higher floor. As I was approaching the desk, I overheard the staff member and another guest talking. The guest requested a room on the sixth floor, and he accommodated. When I asked for another room, he told me he is aware that noises can be heard because the walls are thin, and there were no other rooms available. He told me to come talk to HIM if it was too noisy again. I somehow feel based on his demeanor, he was saying this so that he can tell me the same thing, and if I went to someone else, they may actually accommodate. On top of all of this, online it is said that there is bottled water in the room, which there was not. My room was entered and cleaned TWICE without my consent. I declined cleaning on the app and also had the privacy sign on the door my entire stay. My personal items were left exposed because I was not expecting anyone to come in and I feel VIOLATED. This is completely unacceptable!
When I asked the front desk to speak to a manager I was told they were not there. Every single time I asked they weren’t there. Even when trying to call it went straight...
Read moreGreat location, convenient to everything you could want on a short stay uptown. AC has a very beautiful lounge and lobby!
See bottom half for horrible room review. Housekeeping service is certainly lacking. Way overpriced for the quality of room you get! $250/night. (See pics)
The bartender at the lounge named Bailey is phenomenal, she is the only reason we're giving the hotel two stars instead of one, she deserves all five!!! There is plenty of lounge and bar seating, drinks are made to perfection, she's a great mixologist and such a sweet girl! If your local or out of town stop by, the drinks won't disappoint! They also serve snacks, a few entrees, and dessert in the evenings, no tvs in the bar area, just a "digital screen". They also have a small amount of outdoor seating.
We travel 365 days a year and have stayed at some really nice and really not so nice places. I would rate the room itself in the bottom ten percent right in line with some lower end hotels that are fifty bucks a night!
The quality and standard we are accustomed to at Marriott is not present here. We stayed in room 525 which was supposed to be a room upgrade 😬, what a disappointment. For a hotel that's only been open a little over a year, 🤢...
At first glance there were dust and smears on windows and mirror surfaces, upon further inspection and over the course of three days/two nights we found the following;
*hairs on walk in shower floor before we used it
*wall paper is coming off and stained in various places
*paint/glue on the floors and furnishings
*vinyl flooring damaged/coming up
*window and headboard have thick layer of dust
*fridge had wet reused coasters in it
*white substance on the bathroom wallpaper along with soils on the wall by the toilet with damaged wall paper
*Dusty coffee table
*Greasy smears on mirrored surfaces
*Low quality linens from bath towels to bedding
There are a few other Marriott options that are close, although I don't see us staying at another Ram managed property, as this is our second stay at one of their properties in town that has been less...
