This was my first time at this theater, really my first time in Columbus, GA. I went to see Dave Chapelle on April 8th, the 7pm show. My visit started off fine, but I was a bit disappointed when I found out that the theater did not have a concession stand. I would soon find out that this was the least of my worries. They were extra strict about people having their phones out, like you couldn't even have it off and hold it in your hands. When I say strict I mean excessive/ FBI, SWAT, and DEA all in one. I was in the mezzanine area, you had to enter through mezzanine D and we sat in seat 206 and 205. The ushers/FBI agents closest to us took their jobs way to serious. Throughout the show they continued to block our vision and disrupt our hearing by walking into the aisles and accusing people of having or using their phones when they were not. I unfortunately ended up being one of these people. I was leaning forward trying to enjoy the show and maybe 20min into Dave Chapelle, the same short, fair skinned usher with a short black weave came to the end of my row and started saying several times and pointing to me "you, come here." At first I thought she was talking to someone else, so I looked to my left, but didn't see anyone. When I realized she was talking to me, I insisted that I had done nothing wrong and refused to get up. She then left and returned with a security guard and 3 cops who came into my row, forced me to get up, and escorted me out of the mezzanine area. They were so loud that even Dave Chapelle stopped his show to ask what was going on up there and he also insisted that the people they were trying to kick out should stay. After showing the cops the gallery on my phone which had no images or video of any of the acts, the manager of the theater insisted that I be escorted out of the building and not allowed to return inside. They also wouldn't refund my money despite the fact that I showed them I had nothing on my phone. This experience was unbelievable and one of the most awkward and embarrassing moments in my life. I will not be returning to...

We just attended Sawn Lake and had an amazing experience! Currently 35 weeks pregnant I purchase seats close to the end of our row. Thinking it would make things easy for me. However I was completely wrong! The constant up and down to let people in and my belly being accidentally pushed every time we were letting someone in had me exhausted and completely uncomfortable during the first act. During intermission my husband went to look for a staff member. He found Dalton who was working by the elevator and explained everything to him. Dalton immediately said we have no reservations for any of our box seating. He then moved us to a box sit and helped us get situated for the second act. He made sure I didn't needed anything before returning to his post and notifying other staff members. I was able to feel more comfortable and feel so much better. After the show he came and looked for us to make sure everything was better and to make sure we didn't need help to get out of there. For our first time visiting the River Center this was truly an amazing experience! The staff is beyond...

Last night my family and I were incredibly sad and disappointed. Over two months ago I purchased 4 tickets for the Nutcracker. At our seats (Row D, Orchestra center) we were told the Orchestra expanded over our row. We had to go stand in a long line at the box office to find new seats 10 minutes before the performance! My kids, wife, and I were very excited for our annual Christmas tradition, planned this months in advance, only to be told as we were sittng down, to go stand in line. How can someone tell us this was last minute with months of rehearsals? Sorry, you're on your own, you are disposable. The few remaining seats offered were, as one could imagine, the last desired. How can my family not feel insignificant when being cast aside - it was like we did not exist. Very, very disappointing as I chose my hometown performance this Christmas over the Nutcracker in Atlanta or Athens!! I Salvidged our evening by taking my sweet kids to the movies but I am reconsidering my future financial support as I feel we are...

I have only lived in Columbus my whole life and I had never been in here. I took my daughter to see Neil deGrasse Tyson (she is in college studying astrophysics). The building is beautiful and the show was amazing. I was confused on the pricing though. The section we sat in, the tickets were $49. I didn't notice until later, we were charged for seats that were $69, but we were seated on the 3rd level. Maybe I am misunderstanding something. I went to purchase the tickets in person to avoid the fees that online had. My total ended up being $122. Even w/tax, something does quite add up. Either way, we had a good time, the tickets are just a bit pricey.

"Rent" was very colorful, the cast music/singing were Amazing and Powerful. The overall message of Love, Friendship, and Following your Dreams no matter the cost was simply a Powerful Message especially during this time of tragic loss because of hate in America. Beautifully Performed with a talented and outstanding cast. Thank you for opening the season with this Broadway Show "Rent" on their 20th Anniversary. It's nice to "dress up" for the Theatre that many of us just dreamed about being apart of that cultural world. The River Center is a Beautiful Theatre with a wonderful staff.

We went to see the Nutcracker. I have loved this play since I was a little girl, but have never seen a live performance. I was very excited and set the bar too high. I expected collegic dancers to perform. It was overpriced for a school play with kids running around the stage. Watching a kid's play is not what you pay $70 a seat for. If you did not know the plot, you would not know what was even going on. The positive was that the gingerbread houses were cool, but the show was a huge disappointment.
