Second year stopping in to see the people at CopperHead Brewing. Beers....plain and simple, excellent. Wide range of choices that suit anyone coming in, but really, it's the true craft beers that they excel at. The heavier hitters are just great!! Clocking in at anywhere from 10.5% for the Black Venom stout or the Medusa Quad, to the varying Barrel Aged beers they have. Excellent beers!! Food is available outside. Saw some come in and there was a good portion on the plates. Just haven't tried it. Hours are the thing I had an issue with, and I get it that maybe they want to keep it small as they are open 4-7PM Tuesday through Friday and then Noon-8 on Saturday. it's the Friday night I can't understand. But again, this isn't a bar that caters to college kids looking to get drunk cheap. Beers are good priced, especially for what you're getting!! To go is good. Solid selection of beers, but it does hurt that what's on tap isn't always what's in bottles. I talked with the brewer last year and he said they like to keep it small and coordinate releases with people on mailing list as it ensures everyone gets something instead of dropping a keg in and having it go in a day because people are doing growlers, etc. Overall, great place and anytime I am in the area, that's one of my...
Read moreThis is a terrific local brewery located in the heart of downtown Conroe, not far (a little north) from the courthouse square. They always have: Striker IPA (my personal favorite anywhere), Medusa Belgian-Quad, and Copperhead White… from there, they have done a bunch of other different craft beers that come and go, such as: Habanero Striker IPA, Mango White, Copperhead Red, Kangaroo Killer Pale Ale, King of Terrors Stout, Black Venom Imperial Stout, and Feeding Frenzy Double Dry Hopped IPA to name just a few…. They have ping pong tables, foosball tables, and a pool table which are all FREE. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is good, free, and easy. This place is all about the beer, kind of plain, and understand they do not serve food; but are totally okay with you bringing in your own food. Therefore, one of my favorite things is to get dinner to go from a local restaurant, and travel to the brewery to eat there and drink the Copperhead beer. The brew master is talented and makes some of the best beer anywhere. If you are in Conroe, looking for a brewery and good beer… ensure you stop here! As they also sell six packs and crawlers of your favorite...
Read moreI stopped in at Hoppy Kitchen next door for some killer pizza and what do I find but an amazing craft brewery I didn't even know existed. After 30 years of beer drinking, with a keen liking for the dark and flavorful, I consider myself experienced enough to say these guys stouts will have your taste buds shuddering with joy. They have a good assortment of IPA, Stouts, and lagers. I started with a Medusa Belgian quad. I'm a big fan of quads and this one is right up there with the mountain dwelling brewing monks themselves. This lightly carbonated beauty is so rich and flavorful, with a fruity undertone that is not overwhelming. I immediately bought a 4 pack to go. I also tried their King of Terror seasonal Chocolate/Coffee stout which was delicious as well. Give it a swirl in the chalice and watch how it coats the sides. Perfect beer for the colder weather!
Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed if you are a beer lover! Don't forget to take a look in the warehouse at the beautiful fermentation vessels. I've never wanted to be a...
