Could be better cue... My husband and I happened upon this place on our way back north from Richmond. It had pretty good google reviews, so I figured we'd stop. I saw the "food network" sign and thought we were going to be in for some seriously good eats, but I left incredibly wanting. The outside is very "saloon"ish typical BBQ joint style design I am used to where I moved from, and inside was very open with interesting seating set up. When I say I was left wanting, it starts with the menu, which is displayed in a binder. It's a little strange to me since I can't imagine the menu changes enough to warrant holding a binder or three on every table. I ordered the ribs because I love determining whether or not they can get a good smoke and flavor to compare to other restaurants. For the price, I was expecting better flavor and better portions... and maybe more sides. I was definitely expecting a better presentation of the food, for sure. The sauce was "meh," the cornbread didn't taste like anything, and even putting the whipped butter on top would not save this cornbread. I hate wasting food, but the cornbread did not get finished and it did not come home in a takeout bin with me, which is a first. The texas toast could have been better if it wasn't burnt. I'm not even sure how it could be burnt, considering we were one of 7 people in the entire restaurant at this time. With the lack of orders coming through, I would have expected better attention being paid to an item that comes with the entrees by default. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich and he said it was okay. The bun it was on was only just barely toasted, so he said it was a weird combination of the bun and brisket together. His fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil and the flavor was not good. The coleslaw was a positive, crisp, tangy, ad a little peppery, however I'm of the belief that if the coleslaw is the standout at a BBQ places, you've got some work to do. The food itself wasn't the only let down. Despite being one of a few people dining at this time of the day, our server was MIA for most of the time, so we ran out of a drink pretty quickly and saw no trace of her, and I wasn't sure what the deal with refills was considering they had their soda machines facing out towards the seating, but the waitress never mentioned anything about diy refills. We came out of the experience feeling like we spent *a lot* for a very underwhelming experience. I'm wondering if we just came on an off day on an off time, though I can't imagine a weekday not too long after the lunch rush is over should be that different. Considering its proximity to Richmond, if we're going back down there, this isn't a place we would give a second chance.

Stopped by here and got the family meal (forgot exact name) it includes a rack of ribs 2 pounds of other meats, two premium sides, two regular sides and a gallon of iced tea and 8 buns. For about $130. I was super excited to get this home and tear into this feast with the family. However, based off the overall quality, I do not feel it as a good value. Here is what I think ( see the photo below of everything I had on a plate) - Spare Ribs (dry rubbed): Smoky, great bark cooked well, tender, hands down best part of the meal. 4.8 out of 5 - Pulled pork: who knows how it taste because it was soaked in sweet barbecue sauce. When I ordered pulled pork, I don’t want saturated sauce. I want to taste the pork as it was smoked and pulled. No Bueno. 2.5 out of 5 - Smoked brisket: once again, soaked in barbecue sauce that is sweet. Who does this? You can’t even taste the meat. I love brisket, and this was the most disappointing item in the meal. 2 out of 5 - Macaroni and cheese: this was cooked well, real cheese in here, some of the cheese was browned and tasted great. 4.5 out of 5 - Baked beans: these were tasty good variety of beans, better than most. 4 out of 5 - Sour cream, potato salad: this was good as well. Didn’t knock my socks off, but was tasty and I enjoyed it. 4 out of 5 - coleslaw: it was good, but hey, it’s coleslaw. Kinda hard to screw this up. 3.5 out of 5 **Not sure if something has changed since I’ve been here the last time it’s been maybe a year, but I have never had the meats so soaked in barbecue. First time I have been disappointed. I will definitely be back but order more carefully and be explicit that when I have sliced brisket, that is what I want - no sweet stuff and no sauce added.

Not great. The building is AWESOME there's tons to look at but you're ultimately there for the food and that's where Buz and Ned falls flat from their dry pulled pork to their skimpy side portions. First off, the restaurant is very odd to order. You place your order at the counter, then go sit down, a waitress takes your receipt, and then busses the table and brings you your food. There is an awkwardly placed chalkboard sign that describes all of this, but it's easy to miss when you come in. When you sit down in the expansive dining room you can finally try and focus on the massive array of knickknacks and cool stuff on the walls. Flat screen TVs with a variety of programming box the room and it takes until your food comes to even glance at all the decor. Which by the way, the food is served pretty quick, again why I don't get having the waitresses. Within 10-15 minutes my food was ready. Ordered the famous BBQ pulled pork, which oddly does not come with BBQ sauce. My table didn't even have BBQ sauce, only a selection of hot sauces which confused me until I saw others using the squeeze bottle of BBQ sauce that my table was missing. The BBQ sauce was water and honestly not that good. The hush puppies were great as was the Cajun corn but they were supposed to be the supporting cast, not the main attraction. The fries were limp and peppery - not good. They didn't advertise 'seasoned fries' or I would not have got them. The baked beans were bland. Nice real beans but just smokey no sweetness at all. The coleslaw was provided free and was also very gross. Really glad I didn't put it on to my sandwiches without tasting first. Overall, this is supposed to be a Richmond tradition. This is I I just didn't enjoy.

*Response to their disclaimer * All lies, and we will be addressing this in a professional matter because their rebuttle and my experience was totally inappropriate today and we will not be letting this major issue be swept under the rug. I am not sure which was worst...the experience or the " lies" that they posted as their disclaimer. Either way, I was disrespected with my pineapple juice in my red open cup (who knew the color of the cup matters) and that feels like more is being insinuated there, but we will stay focused on the bigger issue which is the terrible customer service. Again, we will be handling this in a professional matter moving forward. So disappointed in this establishment and most of all the response. 😔 Customers are what keep an establishment going and if Stephanie (the Manager) doesn't understand that then that's a whole other issue!

By far the WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE!!! On May 28th, Sunday I ordered take-out at Ned's Barbeque and I must say I can never go back, in addition to that the Manager on duty pointed her finger towards my face and demanded I never come back to the restaurant ever again! Verbatim...with her finger pointed towards my face she stated "dont you ever come back to our restaurant again!" What started as something that could have easily been corrected with the right level of professionalism, leadership, and compassion for customers instead turned into a shouting match and the Manager through my bagged food at me instead of placing it my hand or sitting it on the counter as any human would treat another human. This unfortunate experience and lack of professionalism stemmed from me coming back to the restaurant to return a takeout order that was missing food and a sauces. But that's not even my issue...my problem is with the Manager who is leading what is supposed to be the number one barbecue restaurant in Richmond. I was yelled at, had food thrown at me, and disrespected more than I have ever been in my life. I was going to take the food correction for the items I was missing but after the Manager, Stephaine, with bright pink and blue hair in a bun (describing her so you know who to be aware of) through my food at me, I asked for my money back and will not be returning again. So disappointing and embarrassing to be treated in this way when I am a paying customer and THE RESTAURANT messed up my order. Thankfully I will take her advice and never go back again! Anyone who treats customers in this way, pointing their finger in their face, throwing food and yelling needs to be fired asap.  Sadly all her employees experienced her lack of professionalism as a...

My husband and I were visiting Richmond for his birthday on 3/14. This place was recommended by my sister-in-law as a great place for dinner. Since we were going to a show that evening and meeting up with others, it made more sense to pick up and dine back at her place. I placed an order over the phone at 3:30 to be picked up at 5:30. The lady I spoke to confirmed that I was picking up at the Broad St location, and informed me that she'd be off shift by then. I got her name but forgot it now, but i intended on making sure a tip got to her for being so helpful and kind with a first-timer. It was a big order.

We were running late up 85, so I called at 5:30 and informed them that we were going to there about 6:00 for the pick up, and to not throw the food away. A different lady I spoke to this time confirmed that I had a pickup at the Broad St location...yes...and took my name down and said she'd forward the message.

My husband and I get there at 6:00 and after standing in line, the person at the To-Go said the phone order would be at the bar. I waited while the bartender finished with her customers, and then provided my name and told her I'd be paying in cash.

I saw the screen when she pulled up the pickup orders and it was blank. She says "Are you sure it was the Broad St location?" YES. She fumbled around behind the bar for a while and then went to the kitchen. When she came out she pointed in the general direction of the kitchen and the 6 people in it and without stopping said "He's the manager, talk to him."

I stood there for a second, confused, and she was gone. I had to take it upon myself to aproach the kitchen and ask who the manager was.

He ended up looking at the orders for the day and finding where my order had been written down but never placed in the POS. It's now 6:20ish, and we had to leave. Other stops to make and a show to get to.

So, this review is on experience, as I can't rate the food. I was very excited to try it, and get something local that's raved about while we were visiting, but alas we had fast food on my husband's...
