I have no idea why people like it here. Now i understand something from something called a "sweet shoppe" will be sweet. But that doesn't mean you should use as much as Julies does! Most things are so damn sweet its enedible. The only people I see here are the older crowd who use it as a meeting spot in the mornings to share a cup of coffee. Now if your the kind of person when you make rotel cheese dip your favorite part is the skin that forms when it cools get the pemento and cheese sandwhich. One of the fowlest things I've ever eaten as it just tastes like cold rotel curd.
The only thing I've had from here that wasn't disgusting was their sausage roll, though thats probably because they don't make those but microwave frozen.
I wouldn't waste your money when you could probably make something tastier at home, and you can get a custom cake made at walmart, krogers, or dairy queen and it will be a much better cake for your money.
I only ever come in here to use the bathroom in the mornings cause everything else on the plaza is closed.
Edit: recent events of their nastiness, my coworkers order3d sandwiches from here and were given not what they ordered (they each had other toppings) but just got turkey cheese in a smashed flat croissant. No other toppings despite ordering that and were made to pay $14 FOR TWO.
I think the true problem in this bakery is them trying to be a sweet shoppe when it seems what they really specialize in is cakery.
For the love of god do NOT waste your time and money trying to grab something quick and tasty here unless your a gambling addict who likes the odds against you cause here your more likely to get something gross than...
Read moreI have stopped into Julie's on occasion for a quick lunch or a snack, but had never ordered from them before. However, my daughter ordered a birthday cake from them this past February and it was absolutely beautiful, so I decided to try them when I needed a cake. I ordered a 2 tiered cake for a retirement dinner, and took a picture with me. I picked the cake up today, and it was lovely. It was as close to the picture as they could make it, and I was very pleased. However, my first concern was noting that the cake was not in the cooler with the other cakes, but sitting out on a counter; it had cream cheese frosting and this is July. I thought that a little odd, but figured they were the professionals, not me, so I took the cake and carefully drove to my destination, less than five miles away; I followed the instructions on the waiver they had me sign: I drove slowly, didn't hit any bumps, no sudden stops. I drove like I was hauling nitroglyerine. When I arrived and brought the cake inside it was ruined. The soft frosting on the top tier had turned loose (it wasn't even adhered to the side of the cake) and slid off onto the bottom tier. And yes, it was the side that had the writing on it. I was so sad that I cried. This was a $93 cake, although it was tasty it...
Read moreMy fiance and I went in yesterday to talk about a wedding cake. A lady named Wendy who i can only assume is the manager was great. She created us literally before the door closed behind us as we walked in. We looked around a moment and than she asked if we needed help with anything. We told her what we wanted and she got another young lady who I meant to catch her name but did to talk with. They did give us some samples to try, we tried the lemon, Chocolate, and red velvet. The lemon is GREAT!!! The young lady who talked with is was friendly, and asked clear questions and even gave some examples of things they could do. By the time we were done, we had our wedding cake ordered. Other things thay stuck out to me where the fact they have regulars that come in alot and was on a first name basis with them. One of the ladies there who we share a mutual friend with asked about our son because thay mutual friend babysit for us and takes our son to local church and vulonteer functions which I personally thought was awesome. I would recommend Julie's Sweet...
