This is some of the best looking and tasting food I've ever had! I've always wanted to go to a ramen shop, and in Cookeville, TN, this is the place! Skip to the bottom for the TLDR
Beautiful interior, so if you want to sit and eat you won't be disappointed. We took ours to-go because we did not want to deal with a anti-nap 3 yr old out in public today :)
We got a range of appetizers: Haru Maki, Bao, Gyoza, and the Cheese Wontons. We also got: Tonkatsu Ramen with chicken and ramen noodles, Hawaii Bowl, and a Sushi Rice Bowl with crabmeat.
Pictures that are not included: Haru Maki, Gyoza and Cheese Wontons. These items were gone thanks to me and the toddler before I could snap photos.
Haru Maki: Seems similar to others I've tried in places around Cookeville, and love these all the same. Sauce is awesome (I have no idea what it is, but you must try it) Delicious and toddler approved! 👍
Gyoza: These are the best pork dumplings I have ever had. Crispy and delicious, the sauce, again, is perfect with this! Like a soy sauce but with extra flavor. Delicious and toddler approved! 👍
Bao: I've never had these before, so this is a new experience. So good!! The soft steamed bun is so soft. The sauce that comes with this has a bit of spice (this is coming from someone that is sensitive to spice). Delicious pairing, and the kick of the sauce that lingers leaves me wanting more. 10/10 and toddler approved (with sauce!) 👍
Cheese Wontons: I'll warn you now, I'm picky on my wontons. I don't want just cream cheese. These are PERFECT. With crabmeat too!! My new favorite place for cheese wontons. Use. The. Sauce. This is a staple for every dish. Amazing and toddler approved! 👍
Hawaii Bowl: Beautiful to look at and even better to eat! Crab and shrimp make this dish along with the seawood. Creamy and a hint of spice, which pairs so well with the mango that adds a sweetness. This was so good, and my toddler LOVED it!! Fabulous and toddler approved 👍
Sushi Rice Bowl (W/ Crabmeat): Wow. Just wow. Creamy, delicous, surprising! Not something I would normally go for, but I'm happily surprised! Think sushi in a bowl! We got yum sauce with 2 other sauces, honey wasabi sauce and eel sauce. Ya'll, if you like sushi AT ALL, try this!! (Toddler did not try this, grandma came and whisked him away, so not toddler approved... yet)
Tonkatsu (Chicken & ramen noodles): Oh... my.. This is great. The chicken is so flavorful. The Tonkatsu base is sweet and salty. Also, to my astonishment, has a ramen egg (aka agitsuki tamago). If you have never had a ramen egg, THIS is the place to try it with their lovely ramen. ** Picture does not include soup base.
TLDR: Superb interior, amazing appetizers, delicious ramen and poke bowls. If you like ramen, sushi, and...
Read moreThe line had started by 1545. We were promptly seated by 1600 (as it doesn't open for dinner service until then) and finished by 1630. The service was attentive and the menu was simple. Restaurants feel they have to give a litany of choices but here it's poke and ramen. I had a Toki poke bowl with fresh sushi grade ingredients but they have the option to use rice or salad. As a comparison, It was on par with poke bowls I have eaten in Hawaii. A little heavy on the sauce, but still a good choice. The wife and kids all had ramen. The broth on the two versions we ate was savory with a little more kick (in a good way) for the spicy ramen. I could go on but I will refrain. When compared to another place down town, I would give the edge to this restaraunt. The amount of food compared to the price was right where it needed to be as the ingredients are not cheap especially for the poke bowl. The pay at the table side is an option I wish more restaurants would adapt. I will reiterate, a family of five was in and out in 30 minutes with every table filled in the restaurant. We will definitely be back and it is my hope that Putnam County...
Read moreNow we’ve ate here a few times and really liked it. We’ve gotten it to go a couple times, but this time didn’t go the same as usual. I have no problem with the wait or staff. But I am fairly certain my husband and I got food poisoning here. We got a ramen to go. It wasn’t busy at all when I went in so I am surprised how the ramen was presented. It hit my husband faster than me, but I will not be eating here again. There was an eggshell in my husbands ramen bowl well he removed it, and then the egg was an unusual color. He was so hungry he ate it. He didn’t tell me about the egg being weird until he was sick. I ate on some of the broth and noodles. The ramen hasn’t tasted quite as good as it did when we first ate there. The egg rolls were so good, but I’m wondering if those were contaminated too. The reason I’m ruling out stomach bug is that my daughter has been around us and hasn’t gotten sick. She also didn’t eat any of it, thankfully. Anyway just please be careful. I really enjoyed this place, but I will never risk eating here again to get...
