My friend and I went up to see his son at TN Tech and this hotel seemed like a good choice. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The facilities are well maintained and very clean. Great bang for the buck. When we got back from the football game I went down to check out the pool area. On the way back up, I got stuck in the elevator. Now that happens, so that's not where my issue is. It's how the problem was handled because that went horribly wrong. I called my friend because I figured the door would open in a moment and it would be no biggie. It didn't so I tried the call button in the elevator and it called no one. I tried 3 times to no avail. Generally this would call either the elevator maintenance company or the front desk. I then googled the hotel's number and called the front desk. I told them what was happening and my friend was already down there letting them know. I was told that the assistant general manager was there so not to worry, she's was going to fix it. I said, well that's terrifying and we got off the phone. It took a half hour before the fire department was even called. Nothing really happened during that time except that Sheila told my friend he could leave, even though I'm still in the elevator, because he was upset they weren't doing anything to help me. He tried to read her name tag and she leaned in and said, "You want my name?" very threateningly. She said there was no reason to call the elevator company, even though that is the first step of protocol in this situation. Sheila was rude and incompetent thought the entire situation. No one from the staff ever directly contacted me thoughout the ordeal. No one ever asked me or my friend of I was ok during this, not once. Sheila gave a very unfelt apology about 20 minutes after I was free that became confrontational. When we said that we would be contacting corporate about how this was handled, Sheila said "good luck with that". Sheila completely avoided us after that and did not speak to us again. Again, I have to praise the rest of the staff. They were amazing. The breakfast was the best I've had at a hotel. The bed was very comfortable. Despite how great this hotel was, I will never go to this hotel again as long as Sheila is...
Read moreI chose this hotel because the reviews were so good but I was very disappointed with the room and its' cleanliness, as well as the noise level outside the room. I brought my dog with me and checked into Room #103, it was a handicap room, I'm not handicap. I immediately notice the carpets are very dirty so I put white socks on to walk around; two hours later, the bottom of my socks were brown from the carpet. There were multiple stains on the carpet, dust on all light fixtures, a ring around the inside of the toilet which tells me that room doesn't get used/cleaned often, and a row of dust on the edges of the carpet behind the bed. I was awake until almost midnight due to the fact that this room is right next to the fitness center, pool(which was closed) and the door to the stairwell/outside exit; I could hear EVERYTHING! I could hear the equipment in the fitness center being used and the buttons being pushed, water running in other rooms, people arguing in other rooms/hallway and the door that goes outside kept being slammed all night long. I was not impressed and just wanted to relax after driving 6+ hours but it was probably the worst nights sleep that myself and my dog have gotten in a very long time. Believe me when I say that I never write reviews but I found it necessary. And to top things off, when I returned home the next day there were 2 bugs, the size of a pen tip, that were kind of sitting snug on my foot and leg. I thought at first they may have been ticks but they weren't latched on, so to speak. I removed them and flushed them down the toilet. I now have 4 spots on my body that are extremely itchy, red and swollen. If I had to guess, these tiny little bugs that I found are probably bed bugs and that is why I ultimately wanted to write this review. I can deal with a dirty room but I can't afford to have to bomb my whole house, throw away furniture etc, if I did bring something back with me from this hotel. Please check on this so that the next guest doesn't take them home with them. But the staff were very friendly and welcoming of us and even gave my fur baby a goodie bag upon arrival, which I thought...
Read moreWe have been staying at Country Inn and Suites for close to 30 years but it seems in recent years the quality has faltered. I don’t know if the chain has changed ownership or if it just depends on the individual property, but they just don’t seem to be as nice or as affordable as they used to be. I always like the fireplace, small library, cookies at night and a great breakfast.||This location was OK, barely. When we arrived there were 3 cookies left and one was burnt but no big deal. There was no fireplace or library.||The room was OK too. We were in a pet room so there was no carpet and it was reasonably clean although it did have a strange odor when we walked in. There were not enough towels for the 4-person reservation. We had to move the dresser to accommodate an air mattress and it was dirty under the dresser. This is even more important in a pet room.||I wanted to do some laundry in the quarter operated machines provided for guest use, but the front desk did not have enough quarters.||The carpet in the main hallways was stained and just looked dirty.||The mattress was very firm and I felt as though my mid-section was being pressed upward—as though I was sleeping on a hump. I don’t think I was but on my normal mattress I sink down a bit so this was difficult.||The morning breakfast was a let-down. The biscuits were very doughy. The gravy was tasteless even when I added a lot of pepper. The sausage links were so salty I could not eat them.||The whole time there I just never felt comfortable. I would stay here again if I HAD to, but I will be looking for other options in the area. We pass through 2 times a year.|I noticed in the fine print that there was a $1.50 safe fee that I could have removed if I didn’t use the safe. I didn’t and it was removed, but how many people miss that and end up paying an unnecessary $1.50?||On the plus side, I did mention that my stay was only OK and the front desk agent apologized and offered me a couple of waters for the road and also did not charge the pet fee. Still $130 was more than I would have wanted to pay for what we got. Take it...
