I am going to be hard in my review of this hotel because my expectations of Fairfield Inn are high. Perhaps three stars are a bit too harsh and 3.5 would be more appropriate, but I cannot give a fractional rating and for stars would be too much. I always had near perfect stays at all Fairfield Inn locations, but this time I was disappointed. The check in process was smooth but when I arrived to my room, I had immediately a small issue. I turned the TV on and was presented the option of using Netflix, which is always appreciated. However, it did not work. I called the front desk and they told me "the new cable provider does not support Netflix". Not sure this was the actual reason, but I just asked for an extension cord so I could plug in my own fire TV. Not many plugs in this hotel. The answer was an abrupt "no". Ok, fine. I'll use my mobile devices. I don't see how a simple extension cord could not be offered, but hey. The following day, the second disappointment at breakfast. Sadly, there was a single person tending to a full room and while she did everything she could, and she was really nice and professional, she just did not have time to keep things stocked. I blame this on the management. I had no other issues fortunately. As I said, I may be too harsh in my review, but my expectations for this hotel chain are always high. Next time I may just give the neighboring hotels a chance instead, as they are quite comparable in price.
2025 update: the entertainment options have not changed much. The system is mostly irresponsive and slow to use. Fortunately this visit, this was balanced by very nice staff. The hotel has overall a cleaner appearance although the rooms have not been really updated much. In the end I think there are...
Read moreWe were staying here for a Wedding...my son's wedding actually. We would definitely stay at a Hilton property up the road if we need to stay at a hotel in Cookeville again. Breakfast never stayed replenished after breakfast started. Waffles but no syrup. If they had eggs when breakfast started & ran out into breakfast, they didn't replenish them. There wasn't much of a variety & odd combinations for breakfast. We all kept our Do not disturb signs up on our doors- we had multiple rooms we paid for with family in those rooms for the wedding & one of the rooms had something stolen from it. When we kept asking questions & they kept saying they didnt find the item, my husband & I returned to the hotel & asked for a keycard scan on the room. They acted like they never heard of such a thing. It is a thing for instances such as that & to protect guests in any other unfortunate events. It shows exactly who's keycards opened that door & when & who it is assigned to. However, we did get the item back bc we didn't let it go. The indoor pool was very cold. The beds were very hard so we didn't sleep well & our backs didn't fair too well. We were given a handicap room with a very small bathroom vanity & odd layout. The hotel wifi wouldn't connect at all our entire stay. Our refrigerator leaked. Our thermostat would get comfortable then it would get extremely hot all through the night so we woke up all night & had to keep adjusting the thermostat. Bathrooms need an update. But the room & breakfast area & lobby area was nice other...
Read moreWe have stayed at Marriott properties for years and I have to say the evening of Dec. 27, 2022, we had the most rude front desk person ever. Enough so, that the man waiting behind me, said the same thing about her rudeness. First off, I went on to Marriott website, put in the parameters 1 room, 2 guests, traveling with pets. The Fairfield and Towne Place came up. I booked the Fairfield online. When we showed up, I went to check in with dog in tow. There was someone before me and that took forever. When they finally left, then the clerk says in a very rude tone. “We don’t take dogs”. I tried to explain the website says differently and allowed me to make a reservation. All she did was point to a sign on the side of a door and said it says right there, we don’t take pets”. I let her know we book online, not staring at an obscure sign on the side of a door. She just continued rudely, pointing to the sign. I never did see the sign, btw. All she needed to do was apologize and tell me, she’s so sorry about the mix up, but the website is incorrect, but she never did. She saw I had a dog in tow, and could have said something before making us wait in line forever. If she was smart, she would inform whoever handles the booking websites, so she can stop being rude. Went to the Towne Place Suites next door. Much nicer hotel and actually friendly people there. Wont be back to this Fairfield ever. Fairfield, get your...
