This was my first time at a Townplace Suites and I am beyond impressed. Based on the Towneplace Suites brand identity as described by Marriott, I was expecting something less than what a Residence Inn provides. In other words, TownePlace Suites' properties are supposed to be a step down from Residence Inn.
While I am sure that Residence Inn's do exist that are nicer than the average TownePlace Suites, I personally have never stayed in one. To say it was immaculately clean would be an understatement.
This place is cleaned to perfection. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The amenities are fantastic. The pet policy is one of the best I've ever seen. Even in the outdoor pool area is way more than what you would expect to find in a property like this.
In the spirit of providing actionable feedback to encourage improvement, I do have some honorable mentions, all negligible things that didn't really impact my overall experience but they didn't go unnoticed either.
Pool Towels The welcome guide in the room says that pool towels will be available at the pool. They are not.
Coffee & Tea in Lobby The welcome guide says that tea and coffee will be available in the lobby all the time complimentary. It is not.
Do Not Disturb Placard My room did not have a do not disturb placard for me to use.
Website Accuracy a. Pool Type - the website mentions an indoor pool but there is actually an outdoor pool.
b. Pet Fee - website says the fee is $100 but it is actually $35. This is a selling point of the hotel and should absolutely be reflected accurately.
b. Hot Tub - the website and welcome guide say that there is a hot tub which is misleading. Essentially, there is a section of the pool that has bubbles. It is the same temperature as the pool and nowhere near the standard 104 degrees, typically found in a hot tub.
c. Fire Pit - the fire pit was not turned on and there was no way to turn it on. Again, this did not negatively affect my experience. It is more of a pet peeve of mine. Guests should be able to access any and all amenities listed by the hotel.
Marriott Rewards Recognition It seems to be a common theme for non-flagship Marriott brands to lack in this area. The majority of properties now fall into this category.
I was really hoping TownePlace Suites would Excel in this area. I never expect an upgrade but I also never ask. Marriott should make efforts to reward loyal customers no matter what brand a guest is staying in. Admittedly, all amenities are already provided and all rooms are Suites but even an acknowledgement by a front desk clerk would serve it's purpose.
Full disclosure, my last Residence Inn experience was horrible so it is possible that my experience lacks objectivity. In any case, the point I am trying to get across is that you cannot go wrong with this property. If you haven't stayed at a TownePlace Suites yet, I definitely recommend that you...
Read moreThings just started off on the wrong foot. When I went upstairs to the room they assigned me, I quickly realized it was the worst room on the floor, being that it was directly across from the elevators & ice machine, and next to a storage closet. I went back downstairs to request another room, and the girl couldn't or wouldn't do anything. I had arrived in late afternoon, and they still couldn't put me in a different room where the guests hadn't checked in yet. Didn't matter that I was a Marriott Gold member. I could hear people congregating around the elevators, getting ice, and heard someone rummaging around in the adjacent storage room the next morning.
I had frequent problems with the internet connection. Their system kept disconnecting me, and I kept getting IP Configuration Errors and Privacy Errors popping up. I never could access Yahoo Mail on my tablet or laptop; I had to use the data on my cell phone to read my e-mail. Sometimes the signal would simply disappear. I don't usually carry my laptop with me on short trips, but I'm glad I did this time. My tablet and iPod wouldn't even connect to the wi-fi in the hotel, but luckily my laptop did. My phone would connect, but I had to let it sit for about half an hour for it to connect. I had to use my cell phone data while I waited. Both my Roku and Chromecast would not work in the room TV. I had to use an HDMI cable between my laptop and the TV to watch my streaming shows.
Bathroom amenities below average for a Marriott property: a tiny bar of soap + a tiny shampoo and a tiny conditioner (the type of thing you would find in a 1-star motel). The building seems relatively new so everything is in good condition. The air conditioner unit in the room is very quiet. Hotel is located in a congested traffic area.
Breakfast ends at 9:30am on Sunday... most good hotels end breakfast on the weekends at 10:00am so that people can sleep in a little longer. Breakfast was good. It isn't self-serve in the breakfast area; you have to wait for the attendant to help you. The attendant was doing as best she could but was a bit overworked. If they are doing breakfast this way because of Covid, maybe it's time to stop... the attendant and most other customers were not wearing masks.
Really a shame I had so many issues here, because the place is attractive and the bed was comfortable. But overall I would give it 2 stars for below average. I wish I had stayed somewhere else...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel, and I wanted to share both the positive and negative aspects of my experience. On the positive side, the hotel offers a peaceful environment, providing a quiet and conducive atmosphere for work or relaxation. The Wi-Fi range is commendable, ensuring a reliable and fast internet connection throughout the premises. However, there are a few drawbacks that need consideration. One notable concern is the room pricing, which is on the higher side compared to other options in the Cookeville area. Additionally, the room cleaning service, especially for those staying with family, raised significant issues during my stay. The hotel utilizes an alternate-day cleaning schedule through the Marriott app. Despite opting for this service, I found that the execution could be more accurate. For instance, if a guest checks in on Sunday evening, the room is cleaned on Tuesday. However, during the cleaning process, crucial elements such as bed sheets, pillow covers, and towels were not changed, even when visibly soiled. This issue was not isolated to my room, as friends encountered similar situations. When raising these concerns with the reception and providing photographic evidence, the response could have been more satisfactory. The staff members seemed unaware of the problem, and the guest manager's explanation needed to be consistent with the promised service. according to her, alternate days meant cleaning every two days, contrary to the guests' understanding. At a rate of $140 per day, this hotel needs to live up to the standards expected from the Marriott brand. For a better experience, consider alternatives such as Fairfield Marriott, which offers daily cleaning, or Home2Suites, conveniently located near the highway with various amenities within walking distance. In summary, while the hotel has its merits, the issues with room pricing and cleaning services significantly detract from the overall guest experience, casting a shadow on the reputation of the Marriott brand.
