This theater may not be the worst theater I've ever been to, but it's not above the halfway point for sure. I wrote a review of this place about a year ago, but removed my review after I saw great improvement in the establishment, as I did not feel that review applied any longer. Unfortunately the Classic Highland 12 did not see these as improvements. Shortly after I removed my review, they went back to providing the same horrible entertainment as before. Here's a list of things the theater does to ruin the audience enjoyment of their movies. They dim the bulbs on their projectors. Smart sneaky way to save money, but when you can barely see what's happening on the screen because of it, you've just charged your audience to sit and stare at a blank screen. Speaking of this, they leave the lights completely on during the trailers, meaning you can't see absolutely anything on the screen. This is especially annoying during a movie with an end credit scene. The second the credits start the lights come on, overpowering the projector, making the end credit scenes unwatchable. The message that they want people to leave as soon as possible is very clear. Staff have even lied to the audience members in the past, saying there is no post credits scene, just to get people to leave so they can clean the theater. The sound is also very poor. It sounds muffled, like watching a movie in a competent theater with earmuffs on. It's also not very clean at all. If you like going to the movies and you live in the Cookeville area, I understand feeling it's your only option. However if you want to actually enjoy the films you watch at the theater, then I suggest going to the Franklin, TN AMC dine in theater. They have a beautiful theater with great service and wonderful auditoriums that enhance the film experience. Go check it out! As for the Highland 12, if AMC is looking for someone to turn their theater around, give me a call. The audience...
Read moreSo I drive 45 minutes from my home town to watch a movie I was looking forward to seeing. I get to the theater buy my ticket sit down and the screen in blank....lots of sound though. So I get up and walk all the way down to the concession bar and wave down an employee. I tell him that the screen is down in theater #4. He looks at me and says "Are the previews playing?"...I say "yes.." He says " oh when the movie comes on the picture will work." I look up at the concession sign and it say $8 for a Small bag of popcorn...WTH? You can charge $8 for a bag of .25¢ popcorn but you can't get your equipment to work? So the movie starts...previews start to roll, we watch them with all the lights on. The lights don't cut out till the second the movie starts...we watch the movie and even before the movie ends the lights come on and all the little busy bee workers are revealed from the shadows sweeping up trash...all the patrons groan and the lights go back out til the first credit shows on screen..that's when I notice the protector had been cutting off the top and bottom foot of the movie the entire time as half of the names for the credits were cut off on the top and bottom as they appeared. Which now makes since as several scenes in the movie seemed off as the top and bottom were not there to provide details about the scenes. I make my way out of the theater I have to squeeze past an army of employees rushing in to clean the theater. If you have employee's that are just there to pick up a paycheck at the end of the week...cut them loose. If they don't care about the job or experience they provide to your patrons, the people that pay their paycheck to them, they do more harm than good. I'd rather drive to Nashville an hour and a half away then deal...
Read moreTook my 5 year old grandson on 11/05 to see HitPig. I told them I wanted the Tuesday special of 5.00 popcorn and drink. They sold me my tickets and told me theater #9. The previews seem quite older for a kid movie with kissing sexual innuendos and shooting. Movies started, and a few mins in, I realized it wasn't a preview but the movie. I looked at my tickets and they sold me tickets to Here and also the 12.94 popcorn and drink special. I went out and tried to tell staff they sold us the wrong tickets and we were late for our movie they said I went to the wrong theater. I called and spoke with a nice lady the next day she was new and grandmother to a 4-year-old and said she would be upset. She told me she would have management call me when they got in. I didn't realize it because no one left a message that they had called back. I called again today as we planned on going to the movies tonight. I spoke with Chris, the manager, and he was extremely rude. I asked why I waited a month, and I explained I did not. He said he never had a message to call me even when I pointed out he did call back with no message. He told me the theater number was on my tickets, so what was my problem. Well, I didn't have the correct movie sold to me, so I didn't know theater number. And he said I should have noticed when they overcharged me. Needless to say, I canceled my AMC plus membership that I paid $ 20.00 for a month. I will not support this kind of rudeness or not take accountability. I told him a simple "I'm sorry your grandson was sent at 5 yrs old to a pg 13" movie, or we overcharged you for snacks but got nothing but it being my fault. And every time the theaters have been dirty. Do better...
