always great food and service until today... usually great service always great food. we usually go in the evenings... today August 22 we were there around 1 30 pm a young girl looked high-school age but I am assuming she might be older as she would have been at school. I went to get a fountain drink and it had all changed from the standard coke products so I asked if I could get a bottled diet coke instead. the girl said why its all the same its cola. I said well the taste is a little different from company to company I prefer coke. another associate said sure u can have a bottle of diet coke. the girl chimes in with attitude and says its all the same its cola. I said its ok... its really not. She kept on with such an attitude so I said well ya know maybe I will give it a try anyhow and let ya know.. I was trying to just difuse her attitude as I managed a major grocery store in southern california... for 38 years I was in the grocery business and customer service is number 1.. So we went around the corner to sit and I noticed small cups and lids and a large mayo with pump and ketchup with pump.. We had never sat over on that side before and I thought oh there's where we get the ketchup. mind you this is on a table next to all the other tables. it is not in the back area. That girl gives me the dirtiest look and stares at me and in a nasty tone says .... next time dont do that... If we had not already paid we would have walked out.... I did end up getting a carry out box and after i finished my drink which by the way did not taste the same but it was pretty good 👌 ... we left and finished our food at home. She definitely needs an attitude adjustment cuz I also heard something going on between her and management... I won't go into it but wow... My husband said I should have said something... I said no the other customers didn't deserve to be made to feel uncomfortable. I do not like giving bad reviews and actually never give a review unless its something nice.. but this one was extra.. she needs a big attitude adjustment and I can't believe they don't see it. Love black megs.... will give it another shot soon..... but I won't tolerate disrespect.. Next time I...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the initial concept that was Black Megs was truly astounding. The first time I visited the location in Copperas Cove I was sold on the cheap burger with mad flavor and a big patty. Oh yes, those were the glory days of a well kept mom and pop style eatery filled with the intoxicating smell of the grill, the laughter of the customers and an unprecedented dedication to quality food and well kept facility.
Today was my last attempt to enjoy the Megs I had once known but was indeed shown that I can no longer expect quality from this dwindling burger chain. The primary offense right out the door is bottled soda instead of a fountain drink with free refills. Oh how dare you tell me I only get 1x16oz soda with my meal when you still have the soda fountain right over there!? Also, don't tell me I am being charged to use my debit card, alter your prices accordingly to hide the corporate greed of credit card financiers. Adding to this discord, we sit at a table with no napkins, only a 98% used up roll of paper towels shared throughout the entire store. When the food comes out I am skeptical but willing until I see the dried up shrunken head version of a hamburger reminding me of how much I really like big greasy burgers. Where is the ketchup for my fries, I ask myself? Oh here it is in this nasty, label all peeled off refilled bottle; I don't care if its refilled, just wipe them down once in a while. I will say that the burgers still have potential and the idea was great but changes must be made if the business is to survive.
It is in my opinion that this chain does not have proper management behind it and cannot function on a marketable level; local colleges offer management classes, take one. Unfortunately, like many empires before, Megs in Cove has lost its way and is only a remnant of its once great self.....This was the third strike, I will never make my way...

The restaurant itself it’s a lovely location with great decor and a friendly group of staff eager to help with a smile. The food came out quickly enough and was hot.
That’s about it though. The burger patty had such a strange texture and almost no flavor and was very hard to deal with. The buns were soppy and floppy and wet. The bacon was great but the only thing on the burger with any flavor other than salt. The onion rings, all 5 of them, were soggy and nasty. The fries had interesting seasoning but were undercooked. I have no idea what the flavors were supposed to be but all we could taste was salt and soggy. Wasn’t worth finishing. Won’t be coming back
After doing some research and getting some clapback from the owner I decided to ask around. Aside from the weak attempt to be Wendy’s on Twitter the staff and such were great, but I didn’t care for the food or that it was soggy and bland with underdone fries. Both meals came out bad. But in respect for the owners response I asked around town to find out what locals think. Apparently a change happened around 2010 and now locals don’t seem to care for the food or the attitudes of the owners on social media like local Facebook groups. Every time I brought up Black Meg’s people rolled their eyes and asked how bad it was. I was honestly surprised by that, I thought it was a local staple. After all this though I can honestly say that I am not impressed and don’t want to return and I suggest you be careful when you leave a review or else the owner...
