Tacocraft Coral Springs, 3240 N. University Drive is a vibrant and exciting spot that offers a unique food and drink experience. Don’t expect your typical blue-collar taco joint here for grabbing a quick bite; it’s an evening entertainment venue where you can enjoy yourself and immerse yourself in the experience. With an impressive selection of approximately 250 tequilas and mezcals, they also have a fantastic cocktail program.

The ambiance is stunning, with a beautiful buildout and ample parking in the adjoining garage. As one would expect of a Marc Falsetto establishment, the staff is exceptionally trained, ensuring a memorable dining experience.

The indoor-outdoor open dining room and bar offer a unique combination of atmosphere, food, and drink that few restaurants in town can match. Right off the bat, I think only Divieto (whose food I’m not crazy about but has a beautiful bar and outdoor patio) and Phat Boy Sushi (and also Kubo) are the only others that can provide a similar outdoor dining and beverage program combination. Still, they don’t compete because of the difference in cuisine.

While there may be more budget-friendly options in town for tacos, Tacocraft Coral Springs offers a premium dining experience. You’re not coming here for $3 regular landscaper tacos like you might find at La Union or Antijitos Esmeralda on Wiles; you’re coming for their tacos' exceptional quality and creativity and to enjoy the surroundings.

And the drinks. Oh, the drinks. Definitely try their Platinum Margarita featuring 818 Tequila and Grand Marnier. Coconut Mezcolada is also excellent if you like things on the sweeter side. Their tacos are not your ordinary fare; they’re creative and flavorful. I had tuna poke (crunchy wonton shell), Smashburger, birria, chorizo and egg, and Korean short rib tacos, all excellent. Authentic Mexican? No, but that's not the point. Think Disneyworld, with its over-the-top decorations, food quality, and service.

Dessert was a bit crazy: a churros ice cream sandwich. Use a fork and a spoon because you’re not picking this one up and want to share it with someone or two. Next time, I’m trying their flan, which is supposed to taste equally outrageous but perhaps not as Instagrammy.

I highly recommend trying their happy hour and Taco Tuesdays to get a feel of the place. I’ve attached the menus for your reference. I’ll be writing a full review for TAPInto Coral Springs soon, but for now, let me say that this is the Las Olas experience in Coral Springs. Is the town ready for a place like this? I hope so because we deserve...

The Roach and I

My sisters and I dined here Saturday night. We were seated outside. The food was okay, most of it was okay, the guacamole with bacon and corn was different for us and we enjoyed it, it was better with the salty chips versus the queso. Our waitress forgot about our water until the third time she came to the table and promised she was going to get it this time. When it did come the bottle it was in was cold but the water itself was room temp/warm. These aren’t things we fuss about especially since she was apologetic. The food came out fast and we all enjoyed our drinks. The guys that brought our food out were very nice. As we were sharing tacos I noticed something crawling on the taco on my sister’s plate. We assumed it was just a fly or one of those bugs outside and so we tried to swat at it but it didn’t budge. It kept crawling all over the plate and that’s when I realized it was a baby cockroach. We were instantly grossed out and called the manager. He pretended to act like he didn’t see anything. Then he started to dispute with us whether it was a cockroach or bug. Umm it’s a crawling insect that’s all over the food. It came on the food and started crawling on the plate. His “aha” moment to cement his argument it was not a cockroach? He picks it up with his fingers and says see it’s not a cockroach, I just crushed it up. This man picked up the thing and squished it between his fingers. I said and what? Cockroaches can’t be squished? I said sir we aren’t here to argue. He then says I’ll clear the bill, I said no, please remove the charge for the tacos we aren’t going to eat anymore but we will gladly pay for what we already ate and our drinks. I feel like he thought we were trying to get over but we just did not want to pay for tacos we saw an insect sit and fester on. He was so rude and just walked off after. I feel like with our gentle approach and being coy about the whole thing he would’ve responded better. It’s an opportunity to do better quality checks. I won’t return. More so for the poor attitude than...

Taco Craft - Univeristy Dr in Coral Springs around 7pm tonight.

Server was top notch. Can’t remember his name but a young kid with twin younger sisters he shared! Food was really good - flavorful for sure. Drinks were also well made. Manager needs work. We ordered alcohol - it was taking forever. Server kept apologizing. He told the manager and then server checked back in with us. Drinks still took even longer. Server let us know that the machine ran out of paper and tickets weren’t printing at the bar but manager was comping the drinks. Drinks came after our meals arrived for reference on timing. My husband ordered four different tacos and enjoyed all of them. He said each was flavorful and well done. I ordered medium rare steak fajitas. Meat was rare. Asked them to correct it. It took until long after my husband finished eating his meal. Manager delivered the new fajitas himself. He was about to walk away without really saying much and I told him that the server has been great but that was a bit long to wait for a food correction. He said it takes 15 minutes minimum for fajitas and walked away. Server apologized more - the kid was on top of things and hated that it wasn’t going smoothly. He told us the fajitas would also be comped. Check came and nothing was comped. We got two $10 off coupons. We didn’t say a word and tipped the kid very generously because he was great but management should’ve comped something on that check. We’ll try once more because the server, food and drinks were great when we got them. Hopefully someone reads this and the male manager is given a nudge in the right direction. They just opened so I’m hopeful they work it all out.

Music...

As seasoned travelers passing through, we know this place well. We stop by every time we visit Fort Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. The food and cocktails? Pretty good, actually! That being said, the service leaves much to be desired. I spent the evening playing a game of hide-and-seek with my server—except I was the only one playing. I even had to get up twice to track him down. We were completely invisible! Seated inside the restaurant, we had the privilege of dining next to what I can only describe as a designated junk table. All night long, the busboy used it as a dumping ground for dirty dishes. Let’s just say… not exactly appetizing. As for the ambiance, a live music duo was stationed at the restaurant’s entrance. Looking like they’d just time-traveled from the gothic punk era, they belted out their set so loudly that I’m pretty sure Donald Trump could hear them from Mar-a-Lago. The silver lining? When they took a break, it was pure bliss—absolute silence! Bottom line: This is your typical all-American restaurant, no doubt a money-printing machine thanks to its prime location. But when it comes to actually serving customers? That’s a relic of the past. Consider yourself warned!
