Having lived in Iowa for over two decades, I finally ventured into Taco John's in Coralville, IA, and I must say, it was a delightful experience that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant, reflecting a blend of modern comfort and traditional Mexican charm.
The first thing that struck me was, with the exception of the restrooms, the cleanliness and modern design of the restaurant.
The staff at Taco John's Coralville were incredibly friendly and attentive. From the cashier to the kitchen staff, everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and eager to make my visit enjoyable. My order was taken promptly, and the food was served hot and fresh in a remarkably short time.
Now, onto the most important part – the food. Taco John's offers a unique twist on traditional Mexican fare, and I was not disappointed. I decided to try their signature Potato Olés as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious – perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, seasoned with just the right amount of spices.
For the main course, I went with a mix of tacos and burritos. The tacos were filled with fresh ingredients, and each bite was bursting with flavor. The meat was seasoned to perfection, and the toppings were crisp and fresh. The burrito was equally impressive – generously filled and wrapped in a soft, warm tortilla.
One thing that stood out to me was the variety on the menu. Whether you're in the mood for a classic taco, a hearty burrito, or something a bit different like the Taco Bravo or the Quesadilla, there's something for everyone.
The prices at Taco John's are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the food.
Taco John's left a fantastic impression on me. It's clear that they care about both the quality of their food and the satisfaction of their customers.

Read moreI ordered 6 taco Tuesday hard shell tacos (.99 each) & 2 large potatoe oles (2.99 each) which comes to $11.92 before tax. They rang it up as a six pack and a pound (12.99 each) & up charge for the large potatoe oles (1.00) which comes to $13.99 before tax. When I talked with the manager asking for the overcharge back, I was told he would report me for theft and to not come back, then he shut the window in my face. What he did is illegal. It is a form of bait and switch. Is I did receive the right food, but was charged $2.00 more because of the way they rang it up in the register. All I was requesting was for the $2.00 they over charged to be refunded. Please do not go to this specific store. The three Taco John's in Cedar Rapids do not treat their customers with this severe form of disrespect. The cashier I dealt with was very kind and respectful. The manager was rude and disrespectful. I think he needs to learn how to add and needs to learn how to...
