My wife and I visited back in the early part of June of this year. I have to admit that my initial impression was that this was just going to be another over-priced, haughty restaurant for the square area. I was surprised to have been quite wrong with this assessment.
Our server, Makenzie, was the model for what a server should be at any restaurant. Attentive, but not overly so like you may wind up with at some places. She was also knowledgeable of the menu, in that she paid attention to how the food was envisioned to be enjoyed by the chef and communicated that with us without coming off as a snob. This lead to a greater enjoyment of the cuisine. She made excellent suggestions for us as first-time patrons of the establishment.
The portion sizes were designed for the diner(s) to indulge in multiple dishes and take enjoyment in the exploration of them. They weren't too large or too small, just enough to get a fill of them and tantalize the pallet so you were looking forward to the next dish of your choice. The food was invigorating without being heavy, as can typically occur with items like the meatballs we started the meal with.
The drinks were also refreshing, and paired exceptionally well with any of the dishes. That theme carried throughout the meal, in that each dish and drink complimented one another. Not one item was a shock to the tastebuds when going from one to the next. If I had to describe the menu as a whole with only one word, it would be "thoughtful". Even the desserts (I will suggest everyone partake in the gelato flight) finished off the meal without the abundance of sweetness that overpowered everything else.
This is an establishment I look forward to returning to, as the menu reportedly changes frequently. The atmosphere has a ring of class to it, without being pretentious. If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend giving Bar...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't get enough of this place. The drinks menu is delightfully curated and delicious. The rotating food menu is also fun and flavorful. With that said, it is definitely not an experience for everyone. For one, you have to have a refined palate that appreciates nuance of flavor, fresh ingredients, and subtlety playful combinations. The other thing is the portion sizes truly are perfect, single serving sizes. Not everyone enjoys this; however, I find it super refreshing as I'm not confronted with the oh so casually American temptation of over stuffing myself. If you're expecting to take things to go, this is not the place to choose. This is an experience to be enjoyed and shared inside the restaurant. I've never left hungry, but I've also never left miserably full and regretting my decisions. With true European flare, you may occasionally have to be assertive with the service staff if you are not particularly enjoying to leisure of it all, but ultimately, I'd suggest you sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice slow date night communing over your supper the way meals are intended to be enjoyed. My only complaint is that while the pumpkin spice tiramisu is very good, the original tiramisu they had on their menu in the summer was absolutely out of this world. Best I've ever had (and it's one of my favorite desserts). I hope they bring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe walked in, no wait staff to greet us, no organization at all, after 15 minutes someone told us they were on a wait and to āfind a seatā at the bar to wait. We ordered drinks which took 20 minutes to get, after 45 minutes of waiting and watching 2 other couples walk in and be seated right away, we complained to the staff who barely apologized and then we were seated in 20 minutes. The server said they were really busy, 1/2 empty restaurant with no wait, we ordered our meal since weād been looking at a menu for over an hour, first small plate brought out by the manager lady in a hat who is totally clueless, with no silverware or plates for us to use or eat with. Low quality food, very small portions even on the full size entrees. Server brought the check with no pen for us to sign with so I had to use a fork to etch with. Ridiculous. Weāll...
