Gutierrez Deli — Restaurant in Covington

This isn't a place you want to skip in Covington, KY. It's down the street from popular Covington restaurants. However, I so happened to come across this one while waiting on dinner reservations for another place. After I finished dinner. I said now you're being greedy. In all fairness, yes I am. And I am glad I did. Because being in Cincinnati, OH for a few days. I noticed that traffic between Kentucky and Ohio is a beast of it's own. Although, it's only a 30 minute drive. I did not want to return to deal with that traffic. So, I got my greedy on.

This place is a gem. It is a small cute hispanic community grocery store. But it also serves Mexican food. The authentic kind. I got their 3 tacos special, beef for $9.99. The tacos were so good. They do not skimp on the meat. Man it was piled on those tacos.

Then I believe instead of onions they used the white part of the cabbage, chopped and then spread it on the tacos. At first I gave it the side eye, but then I tried it. OMG!!! It was so good. A nice crunch and flavor it brought to the taco. The tacos come with a drink, but I didn't want one.

I was starved when I drove by the "Deli Open" sign, so when I reached the parking lot called I-71, I didn't get on, but turned around to go back to that sign. What a pleasant treat! Personally, I appreciate a limited menu. It usually means that what is made, is made to perfection and this deli did not fail to deliver. The tacos were delish and the barbacoa was soooooo good! (Offering the perfect mouth buzz without being too hot.) I also picked up some larger quantities of things (for some reason, caldon con sabor pollo chicken stock has been almost non-existent at Kroger), fresh tortillas & baked goodies. I can’t say it enough, IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN HERE, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! Get there! Absolutely amazing food. We stopped in tonight, we got a chicken quesadilla, beef burrito, and beef street tacos. The portions are huge, I swear my burrito had to of weighed a pound. The meat was super tender and flavorful. We loved the salsas that came with the food.
