My third time visiting the Cranberry location, and again it didn't disappoint. It's still unfortunate that the Ross Park Mall location closed making this the closest, and after biking on a warm February day I was in the mood to undo my progress with a burger and fries. I showed up around 5pm after placing a mobile order, but was worried since it took me a bit to get there due to traffic and distance. I ordered a Little Bacon Cheeseburger, medium Cajun fries, and chocolate milkshake (a classic combination!) so of course I didn't want it to be sitting there at room temp when I arrived.
Thankfully they still make a decent amount of it when you get there to ensure freshness! As soon as I announced I was there for an online order some of the crew prepped the milkshake and put together a new batch of fries while I waited at the pickup table. After a few minutes I had everything and sat down, noticing how clean and organized the restaurant was. This isn't your typical McDonald's with sticky floors and debris everywhere. All seats were pushed in, the floor and table tops were clear of messes, and a young worker spent most of the time I was there going around emptying trash cans and tidying up. Most fast food joints neglect that due to having everyone hurriedly filling orders at the drive through and being understaffed. A steady stream of customers came in during the 45 minutes I stayed and the kitchen staff handled it all in decent time.
I like the layout of this location and others too, much of the kitchen is visible which gives you something to watch while eating, but also gets you seen right away when entering. Plus the free peanuts and sacks of potatoes add to the unique feel. Even a sign telling you the town in Idaho where the damn potatoes came from! Plus all the signs around the restaurant touting news articles mentioning the popularity of Five Guys. It all just stands out from the drab gray appearances of remodeled modern fast food places. I'd say my only gripes were the cost, it does tend to be notably higher here than the competition. And me always forgetting to order the small fries, you get plenty with that and half of them overflow the cup and are in...
Read moreWalked in and kid walking to register & asks for me to wait; he’s tying his apron on. It’s like I see you aren’t ready for me & I just walked in I need to look at the menu. Michael M., guy who waited on me, finally ready and I give him first hamburger order and I am in the middle of giving him second one when he interrupts me and says the regular ones are two patties and small are one patty. He caught me so off guard I’m like “What?” He says it again. I looked at him like you should have explained that before I started my order. Plus you shouldn’t be interrupting a customer. I said that’s fine and finish my order. He doesn’t read it back to me. Just tells me the total. First, Michael has no personality, seemed annoyed I was even there and screwed up my burger order. The second burger was supposed to be a Bacon Cheeseburger with mayo, tomato, pickle and grilled onion. He puts in the system bacon, mayo, lettuce, grilled onion and pickle. I did get my order pretty fast but when I got home is when I discovered not only was my burger order wrong but the cooks put no bacon on my Bacon Cheeseburger. How hard is it to put bacon on a bacon cheeseburger order?? I paid $2.00 extra for no bacon. I wish I hadn’t left that 10% tip. Over paid and Very disappointed in this Five guys restaurant. Here’s the best part. They weren’t even busy. There was one guy waiting for his order and a family of four who walked in behind me who were being taken care of by another cashier. Be aware of mediocre service going to...
Read moreFive Guys is a fantastic restaurant. The quality of their burgers is good, they are not particularly expensive, and they taste good. A very large number of condiments + toppings are available for free. I would say the burgers are far better than any fast food burgers and are also better than many restaurant burgers. This makes them a great choice, particularly concerning price and convenience.
Their fries are wonderful, the regular and Cajun fries. I would really recommend the Cajun fries.
You get an incredible amount of fries for the price and they definitely represent a lot of the appeal of five guys. You could certainly split a small fry between 2-3 people and still have more than a large fry from any fast food restaurant. It's great to sit down with friends over a huge bag of fries and let the meal last a long time, especially if you're eating in as they've got free peanuts to snack on before you get your food.
The location I frequent has one of those drink machines with a screen and many, many options. Their milkshakes are also pretty good, though I would say they aren't as good as the burgers/fries when compared to other establishments.
I haven't tried the dogs but everything I have had has been so good, I would be willing to bet the dogs are also delicious.
Overall I greatly enjoy five guys, I think they have quality food with decent prices. I have never had bad service at any five guys location, I've never had bad food at any five...
