The food here is incredible! Our friend who is from India says this is “proper southern Indian food“ and brought us here for us to have a gastronomy experience as close as he could give us to his auntie who is the best cook in the family back home. We had in our group: a masala dish, mutton, goat, and chicken, as well as Biryani and the other lovely rice dish that the restaurant claims as their specialty was also scrumptious! We ate family style and enjoyed sharing. The portion sizes are very good and they were able to adjust spice for the varying spice desires of the group from “baby spice“ for Grandma, which was completely not spicy to a triple 5 chicken for the spice lovers in the group that gave us enough spice to enjoy. The restaurant is very clean, the staff was very kind, attentive, and had an incredibly good sense of humor. Grandma, who claimed before we went that she does not like Indian food was convinced that she does now that she’s eaten here. Even though this is a little bit of a drive for us, I don’t think we will be eating Indian food anywhere else in the Pittsburgh area from now on. We did not try anything from the bakery, but the display was quite tempting. We took two to go boxes home with our leftovers, so next time we will probably just need to save room for dessert.

A True Hidden Gem for Authentic Nawabi Cuisine! I generally don’t leave reviews, even when I enjoy a place—but Nawabi Hyderabad House in Pittsburgh truly deserves a big shout out. During my 4-day stay in the city, I ended up having every single meal from here—and I have no regrets. The food is absolutely fantastic and full of authentic flavors that stand out. Appetizers were a highlight—each one better than the last. My personal favorites include Apollo Fish, Tandoori Mix Grill, Karampodi Chicken, Karampodi Shrimp, Masala Fish Fry, and Karampodi Baby Corn. Every bite was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. And when it comes to biryanis and pulavs—this is where they really shine. I tried few of their biryanis, and each had its own unique touch. I became an instant fan of the Nawabi Goat Biryani and Nawabi Chicken Biryani. The Potlam Pulav (both chicken and goat) was equally outstanding—rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Believe it or not, what I tasted was just a fraction of their vast menu. Yet, every dish had its own distinct taste and was consistently excellent. If you’re anywhere near Pittsburgh, I highly recommend paying Nawabi Hyderabad House a visit. You’ll be glad you did! Cheers Hari

A FOODIE’S FIND OF A TREASURED SOUTH INDIAN CUISINE. True to UNESCO-designated creative gastronomy of Hyderabad , it reflects lovely flavors of the Tengulu region.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩. Following Hyderabadi tradition, the menu has a large selection of Biryanis, Pulavs and Dosas🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩. Creativity is best exemplified by: 🤩 Andhar Brinjali curries, Hyderabadi taming of the curry with nuts and tangy flavors. 🤩 Their Tandoori selections: sizzlers from the tandoor oven without the greasiness so often found in similar eateries. Southern India flavors ob otherwise North Indian treaaure. RECOMMENDATIONS: 🤩🤩🤩 Munchow Veggie Soup: a surprisingly light consommé of textural chunky veggies. 🤩🤩🤩 Curry Leaf Gobi: Fritter of cauliflower wrapped in curry leaves that give it a very citrusy lemongrass-like aroma. 🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂Cornish Hen Tandoori: The Pièce de Résistance of Hyderabadi creativity. South Indian curry rub of the English Chicken served on a sizzling platter. 🤩🤩🤩 Tandoori Roti: simply the BEST WHEAT FLATBREAD, very light and lovely seasoned. 😎😎😎😎😎 Gutthi Vankaya Curry: a surprising light tangy nutty curry of the Indian eggplant. Service is outstanding 👏👏👏👏👏. The restaurant itself has a most pleasant modern dining ambience.👍👍👍👍👍

Had been this place thrice since they had opened. All three occasion was a bad experience. Management does not even worry about customers time, all they want is money. Day 1 : placed a pick up order.. the order was never prepared till i had reached the restuarant. Made me to wait 30-40 minutes. Management does not have a courtesy to inform customer about cancellation or out of stock. They expect customer to watch the app for updates Day 2: visited with friends, my friend asked the waiter what is best pulao you would suggest. They mentioned RG Kodi pulao. We order one for dine in and one for to go. But we were served only the to go order. When asked the waiter says we had placed only to go, finally accepting that was mistake on his side and said all other rice items are closed for the day Day 3. Placed a pickup order at 10.55 am (with pick up time 12.30). I got the confirmation immediately over email, when i reached the restraunt at 1.15 pm to pick up, the didnt even start preparing. The waiter receives the order via app after i show the email. After 20 minutes wait they are calling to say the item i had orderd is out of stock… no one from the management is interested to solve though they stand in the cash counter.. All 3 attempts had dissapointed, never going again. All they care is money, not customer satisfaction. If food item is not being served, please take effort to remove from the menu ( both online & in restratunt) dont take customer...

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share our wonderful experience here.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Coming to the food, we ordered idli, punugulu, Vijayawada boneless chicken biryani, and mango lassi — and every single item exceeded our expectations.

The idli was fresh and soft, and the chutneys and sambar were absolutely top-notch. I especially want to highlight the sambar — I even asked for a second cup!It actually made me think of the sambar I’ve had at restaurants back home. The fact that they thoughtfully included drumsticks in each cup was such a lovely touch.

The punugulu were another standout — perfectly crispy and not greasy at all. They tasted just like the delicious street food you find back in India.

As for the biryani, the flavors were rich and aromatic. At first, we thought the portion might be too much for two people, but we nearly finished it all — that’s how good it was.

Finally, the mango lassi was the perfect finishing touch. It tasted so fresh and not overly sweet. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a lassi that good.

Before we left, we spoke to a lady in a red shirt and told her how much we loved everything. She encouraged us to let the owners know, but we had to leave and so I wanted to write this review instead.

Highly recommend this place — it’s a true gem, and we’re so happy we got to experience such delicious,...

I know Indian food well, and I prefer traditional Indian food over Americanized versions. I'm happy to know that this place absolutely offers more traditional style foods (and menu items), rather than the same old weak americanized stuff you find everywhere. However, with that being said, it comes with a few things to note: your food will be spicy. Sorry, but Indian food IS spicy food- so if you need very mild heat, go elsewhere. Their heat scale is not based on people who cannot tolerate spicy foods. Also, some of the stewed meat dishes have chopped bone-in chunks of meat and a few small bone chips. This is what you will find in many countries. The marrow greatly enhances the flavor of the sauce, with slow cooked bones. The bones are annoying, and you do need to eat somewhat carefully, but the bones do soften a lot during cooking so it's not a big problem. The flavor more than makes up for the trouble!! The chicken korma (heat level- "spicy", which is like a "mild-medium" in India) was exactly as it should be. My only complaint is that there was not much chicken meat for the price, which was disappointing. (Mostly thick sauce, with a little meat after the bones, but I definitely got too full to finish the rest of the rice and sauce, which I'll save to add to something at home.) Still, the sauce was good enough for me to happily leave 4 stars. It was a pick-up order. Perhaps I'd get more meat if I dine there. I intend to...
