Update 04/2021
I was really up for thai food so I decided to give the restaurant a new chance and to pick up a soup and a curry - in the end I wish I had not...
But let's start at the beginning. The waiter and waitress working at the front table were quite young but very nice. The young gentleman who tried to take my payment had obvious problems operating the terminal and at the second or third try I had to tell him that I am definitely not paying 68.24 for a 24.86 order. His coworker finally managed to process my payment.
As European I am used to waiting for my food so I found the 20Min waiting time not very shocking. I picked up my food and went home in anticipation of a good meal. Well, when you pay about $25 for a soup and a main dish, it should be good, shouldn't it... ;)
When I came home, I unwrapped my food and was greeted by a lovely scent of delicious thai food - unfortunately for me that was as good as it should get and probably the best point of my dinner...
When I put the tom kha gai in my soup bowl I noticed that there was onion, and more onion and even more onion with a very little side of chicken and maybe a slice of tomato and I was definitely not amused. This is my favorite soup and though the flavor was acceptable, nearly all I had was onion in it? When I pay $13 for a big cup of soup I definitely expect more than mostly cheap onion filler!
Ok, I thought to myself, that was not what I expected but there was still a chance that it could get better! I still had a curry and rice!
Well, I should not have put my hopes up at this point as already the rice revealed - my rice gave me a very sad picture of its short life. It felt like it was already a day old and so mushy on the inside that it was definitely not fresh. Eating a lot of rice myself and owning a rice cooker I was expecting much more of a thai restaurant - especially when it comes to rice. But there was still hope - there was still a curry...
And you can imagine my disappointment when I opened the container with the yellow curry and found a soup like sauce... and yes, you guess it right! Mostly onions! Nowhere close to the rich and delicious creamy curry sauces I was used to. If someone had served me this as a soup, it would have been more believable - and again - where was the beef in my yellow curry with beef? Very disappointing!
All in all - even if the restaurant is nearly just around the corner - I won't be back! I am not prepared to pay this price for onion with a bit of thai taste and old rice!
------+++++------ Gave it a try and the food was good, the service could be quite improved.
The gyosa /pot stickers were decent though not as good as the ones we get at the nearby sushi restaurant at Main Street. Then we waited like forever for my Tom Kha Gai soup which then finally came - nearly at the same time as my main dish so I ended up eating at two things at the same time which was quite awkward. My Tom Kha Gai soup was very good and we both liked our main dishes.
The sweet tea was drinkable according to my husband - a slice of lemon definitely improved my unsweet tea. You have to ask to get your drink refilled and due to a neighbour table we also learned that they have a spice platter which includes soy sauce which would have made my three friends appetizer even better. The young servers are very nice and try their best - we might definitely come back for my favorite soup - but probably to go next time.
Apropos to go - the food is quite good and the high amount of to go orders which left the restaurant while we were there indicate that a lot of people like their food and eat...
Read moreOrdered the crispy shrimp rolls and chicken teriyaki via Uber eats. I was excited because I hadn't tried this restaurant before. The shrimp rolls were good; very crispy, and the sweet and sour sauce was good.
Now for the chicken teriyaki. This was literally the worst tasting teriyaki I've ever had. The sad part is that I wanted to order something else, but thought to myself, "you can't go wrong with teriyaki. Its a safe order." The sauce tastes like they put water, vinegar, and nutrasweet in a pot then boiled the everything in it. I checked the Google reviews and realized they only had 4.1 stars, unfortunately their rating wasn't as low in the Uber app.
I called the restaurant to inquire about their refund policy. I told them that the teriyaki was disgusting. The girl asked me if I ate any of it. How would I know it was gross, if I hadn't tasted it first? She said everyone has different tastes, but that if there was nothing wrong with it there would be no refund. I said ok, that's fine, but I will be writing a very thorough review on every platform.
So here is one of several reviews that I will be posting. I know a lot of military people in this area, and I plan to make sure they all know not to eat...
Read moreI was absolutely shocked. Looking now, a day after we came here, I see reviewed from nearly a year ago reporting what we experienced. The owners children are running around and screaming through the restaurant.
I’ve never done this before but I asked for a discount on the food. On principal, I felt robbed of an experience. I asked for 25% off. The food was good, but the service was lacking because they’re understaffed. I’ll be patient with folks when this is the issue, I don’t know the circumstances and I don’t want to judge. But the freaking kids were running around and yelling during our meal. The owner argued with us and kept asking “what can I do?” but not actually offering anything but a 10% off. She finally just started yelling “ok kids outside! Customer don’t want you in here” and literally shewed her kids out into the back yard. We paid with the 10% off and tipped our poor server who looked appalled from the moment we arrived, and left. I hope she let her kids back inside, it was raining.
If you patronize this restaurant, take your food home. It truly was good food. I wish these people the best and hope they make...
