Jefferson Fry Company — Restaurant in Cromwell

When this place first opened, the one in Middletown, ct. I don’t know if the owners were running it and cooking , I do believe they were husband and wife or what have you, but it was the best ever that it’s been. I have returned to this establishment a dozen of times since then and staff is rude can’t get the orders right and the cooking is subpar. I have taken my daughters and my friends there and a friend of mine orders fries with just nacho cheese on them the liquid cheese tell me why four out of five times she gets cheddar cheese put on them and she specifically asked for the nacho cheese. I took my daughter there the other day we ordered my daughter asked for the taco fries twice she said it to the girl at the register and guess what they didn’t charge her for ? the taco fries. paying $50 or more for a lunch for 2 adults and a child I would expect better service than what we got. When the girl brought the fries to the table for my daughter we said thank you and we got no reply back, Just a rolling of the eyes and walked away. Jefferson Fry I don’t know what happened since you first opened and I first went there and had the best experience the food hands-down was phenomenal, the hamburgers were cooked to perfection the way I like the fries were phenomenal I don’t know what’s happening but I would take a good long look at the people that you’re hiring and making sure that they have experience in the food industry and they know how to cook I like my hamburgers well done burnt and I can’t get them that way since I’ve been to you the first time and I don’t understand why? I tell them to burn my hamburger and they don’t, I asked for sautéed/fried onions I got half cooked half raw on my burger smh 🤦‍♀️ Until things get better I won’t be returning. I was a big fan your biggest fan I went there faithfully at least twice a week...

This place is either the best or the worst unfortunately.

The first few times our family came to eat (midday) service was great. Food was great.

As we started to come more often (about 2 times a week) I’ve noticed that it’s really hit or miss. Especially in the evening. About half the time something is missing from the order or the food has some issue. (Like last time I got chicken strips and they were severely over cooked)

Today at 8 pm (Berlin Rd location) we ordered a burger and the patty was not cooked in the middle. It’s not that is was “pink” it was literally uncooked and smelled like raw hamburger (because it was). It was cold and unappetizing to the point my wife couldn’t eat it.

In contrast the fries were great as usual. But the worst part was the actual service I got from the employee behind the grill.

The food I ordered today was food to go and I must have missed when they called my name. I noticed my food sitting under the heat lamp ready to go and tried for about 5 minutes to get her attention to ask for my food while she ignored me. After 3 failed attempts to get someone’s attention she walked to the back and peered at me through the little window in the door.

It wasn’t until the nice employee who took my order in the first place returned that I was able to get my food.

I just wish that every time I came the food was consistent but more so...

3rd time to purchase a milkshake that was mostly milk (or water?). I even specifically asked that "this time" it not be so runny and at $6 +tax in a TINY cup it should be nice and thick. The young man ringing me up said it wouldn't be a problem, but the guy that made the shake thought nothing of it and when I pointed out that it's all runny he just giggled like he's high and said "I'm sorry." I asked "can't you just make a proper shake?" And he just giggled/ laughed more and said it's just the formula we use." I said I wanted a refund then - but I'd prefer to just have a proper shake. He just giggled and said since it was on my credit card he could just refund me. He should have re-made the shake. The female manager was there and she should have stepped in and recommended to him to remake the shake and re-train him on proper portions of milk (or maybe they use water) ratio of milk- to- ice cream. If whip cream were added on top it would have just overflowed the cup because it was so thin. So, 3rd time of a shake the consistency of loose diarrhea, and this time even after specifically requesting it be thicker, and the little boy employee just giggling and smiling like he was stoned out of his mind. Don't bother ordering shakes...
