This was the first time that I had eaten Burmese food. The lady working the front counter was very helpful to make sure that I ended up with a fairly authentic meal. I was also pleased to discover a bit of a shopping mart here that included Myanmar's local newspaper. I highly recommend the salad made with the pickled tea leaves. It sounds like you have to be adventurous to eat it, but it's not spicy or two strangely flavored. It certainly is unique and robust. The fish soup is also unique in its overall flavor. However, be prepared for a little more kick. It has a little bit of a sweet and sour flavor to it as well as the spicy hit of the chile. It comes with some little crispy chips that helped after each bite to reduce the heat. My favorite part of the meal was the Shami Kebabs. My wife felt that it had a flavor similar to samosas from India. I think it had more aromatic flavor to it, probably because it has a lot of beef. The side of slaw that goes with the kabobs is extremely flavorful. In fact, my wife just wants the kebabs with the side slaw the next time I go. Finally, I recommend trying the Falooda. It is a cold drink with hints of strawberry and rose. I have no idea what's really in it, but I'm guessing that it's yogurt based. It does have little strips of young coconut in the bottom so you have to drink it with a boba straw. My wife felt that it was more of an effective dessert after the meal because she liked the chai with her meal and the Falooda after. I'm definitely going to be picking up from here at least once a month until we make our way through the first two pages...

My new favorite place on the West side.
Jasmine market & Deli is currently delivering inexpensive lunch specials, drinks, and dinner entrees through Yelp, Grub Hub, and others.
The market sells groceries, snacks, cold drinks, soaps, alternative medicine, and pandemic supplies, like masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and antibacterial wipes. (Clorox wipes!)
I ordered takeout through the Yelp app, delivery is available for a few dollars.
Once I arrived to pick up my food, I bought a bag of groceries, since I had the place to myself and this place had so much to offer safely.
I took my takeout to the charming front patio, where I was the only customer. The patio is pretty, and well-spaced for pandemic protection.
Gluten free friends will love this market, and the food. Traditional Burmese food offers many wheat free dishes, like rice noodles, curry, soup, mango pudding, and cassava dessert.
The Myanmar-style lea leaf salad was the highlight of my meal, everything was delicious.
You can purchase the ingredients to make traditional tea leaf salad here. I'm excited to . make my first tea leaf salad, thanks to this market.
Social distancing practices here are great. Masks required and worn. Capacity limited. Contactless delivery available and encouraged.
If you need to buy a box of masks, groceries, ready-to-eat treats, or cleaning supplies, please consider this delightful market. It's a great alternative to nearby...

On weekends you could find some specials, but for the most part it served as an oasis for halal eaters on the Westside, cooking up components of Indian, Pakistani, and other cuisines that might be a bit rare in the immediate vicinity. But the different owners for over a decade have always been from Myanmar, and kept the dishes available.
Now there have been two delicious run-ins with mohinga, the famous fish stew served all over the country and made very well here at Jasmine. The best time to eat mohinga is of course in the morning, the only time to find it when traveling through Myanmar. In the United States they will keep it around all day, but there is something supremely satisfying about the noodles in the morning, before it gets hot outside.
What has not changed is the recipe, a deep, dark muddy and murky bowl that somehow seems heavier and more robust than other versions around town and those in Myanmar, except those in Rakhine State. Add some of the dried red chili flakes to wake yourself up even more so than coffee, for the bowls you have there in the northwest will all...
