I’ve always enjoyed Shakey's, especially when supporting fundraisers through their receipt program, but after my most recent experience, I’m extremely disappointed with the management at this location.

Shakey’s offers a 25% donation from proceeds when receipts are submitted into a designated box at the cashier for a fundraiser. Some rules are clear as per the contract: we can’t ask for receipts from people not involved in the event, which we fully understand and adhere to. However, one of my leaders had a brief, friendly conversation with a coach from a school her son used to attend. The coach, out of goodwill, volunteered to contribute his receipt to our fundraiser. Unfortunately, someone overheard this exchange and took it upon themselves to turn the receipt box around blocking anyone to donate an entire hour before the agreed-upon time.

When our leader addressed the situation with management, they wrongly accused her of soliciting receipts from customers. The fact that a mid-level manager made this assumption and became confrontational about it was completely uncalled for. To be clear, no one was going around asking for receipts, and the person involved was simply being generous. Her reasoning was that the person did not "appear to be in our group" or would be someone we're associated with. Based on what, appearance? Tsk tsk Shakey's, you better come get your girl and put her in check. Such evil and negative assumptions can be construed as something else. It’s disheartening that instead of fostering a positive environment for community events, extra-medium green shirt lady decided to police donations in such a heavy-handed and unprofessional manner.

I hope Shakey’s reassesses how they handle these situations, as this experience has left me questioning whether I’ll return to this location in the future. They must be hurtin' if they got to guard 25%...

We went in during the all you can eat time. I ordered pizza with no cheese, because my son is allergic to cheese. I also ordered 4 fried wings as they said they don't have them out for the bunch of lunch special. I was with a large group for a birthday celebration. My friend ordered "bunch of lunch" for 10 people. When we got in line with the plates we were given, the Hispanic male manager approached me aggressively and said you did not order "bunch of lunch." I said, "Yes we did." He said with an attitude, "Let me see your receipt." I told him my friend had the receipt. He approached her with the same aggressiveness. Very rude. Once he found out we had a receipt he moved on with his life. Needless to say we were a group of only 2 black families in the place. Everyone else was of Hispanic decent. Secondly, my son has a disability if asthma, that is why we ordered pizza with no cheese. He never once came to check on us after that. The other female manager did, after I told her how horrible we felt. She also informed me that if we needed special ordered items like pizza with no cheese, that I could have requested it on the "bunch of lunch." However, she never offered me a refund. I also asked for the cooperate number. She promised to give it to me, but she did not. Needless to say that was pure...

Horrible experience staff had really bad service. Had 10 people cooking and one person cleaning tables sweeping and clean the restrooms. On top of that they kept bring orders up to the tables and asking can I see your recipe even if they had numbers all the customers were really bothered by this form of delivering food to the table you can't help it but feel some type of way. When they finally brought my order after asking 3 other tables for there recipe. I had to go to the front desk to get more plates to serv the food and what I saw just made my stomach turn the staff was eating and picking at the food while getting it ready to get disperses. I ask to speak to a manager and spoke to about 5 different people. That I don't even think we're managers and they all answered with single word answers to my questions. So I couldn't eat my food and refused to let my wife and kids eat it after what I saw the staff doing. And took off I was sick all night from what I saw. I have since contacted corporate and expect a full refund for this incident. I'll post how corporate handles the situation...

Such a fun family place! Their pizza is extra cheesy with delicious stretchy cheese. We came in from a coupon from school where my kid received a free Individual pizza (7”) and the staff were friendly. When your food is ready, a bell is rung so pay attention to the bell to go pick up your food at the ordering counter. Their salad bar is great, I got their unlimited salad bar for under $10, and filled up with 2 plates worth of fresh veggies. The vibe inside is inviting with big open seating area and booths. There’s even an arcade area where you can load a card up to play for tickets and redeem tickets for prizes. Highly recommend for a birthday gathering or a nice time out with the family. We have a 3 year old and it was a great place for him to enjoy. Plenty of parking in their parking lot!

Ah, the memories of Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. Way back before most of you were born, a great night out was Shakey’s. Pizza, Mojo fries, spaghetti, fried chicken and best of all....video games. By the 90s, Shakey’s was almost dead. The restaurants were run down and neglected. But then, in the mid 2000’s young families started making a return and now Shakey’s stands tall and bright. The restaurants are clean, bright and packed on a Friday night. Good for them! The pizza, like the fries and chicken are American. No Italian pretending here. But that’s the fun of Shakey’s, it’s all about family.

A very nice and clean Pizza Parlor in a nice area of Culver City. Easy access. Plenty of parking. It can get busy sometimes, but the professional staff handles it well. I recently enjoyed the Bunch o' Lunch buffet there. The salad bar was fresh, and well stocked, with lots of veggies. The hot entries were all tasty and well prepared. And Shakey's kept putting out many pizzas of all different varieties the whole time I was there. I've been to many Shakey's since the '60's. This is one of their finer establishments. The lunch buffet is a great value. I'll be returning again soon.
