There is good and bad here, for me the bad outweighs the good. I ate here about a month ago and overall liked it. The main things I liked were the warm "woody" feel, the comfortable seating and the greeting I received at the door by Mrs. Petrelli.
There were enough upsides for me that I had planned to return if I was in the area again. The downsides were that it is pricey, especially when considering that the food is good but not inspired.
Another downside for me is that they use a very outdated system of billing. The check is handwritten along with a calculator printout, adding up the total. The inconvenience for me is that my accountant requires that I take a picture of all the paperwork to give her. In this case it was fortunate that she makes me do it because they had overcharged me $11.03. Whoever worked the calculator made the mistake. I am so absent-minded that I didn't notice.
Making a mistake is okay with me, everyone makes them. I sure make enough of them. It is how the mistake was handled that angers me. I came with all the paperwork along with a spreadsheet my accountant prepared showing how it was calculated along with the correct calculations. Okay, okay, I'm a bit anal.
Mrs. Petrelli greeted me at the door, she is quite good at it. When I tried to show her the pictures and such she became immediately combative. I think that she thought that I wasn't going to eat there, and told me that she would give all this information to their accountants and they would deal with it, without going into any detail as to how they were going to deal with it.
Then she asked if I was going to eat. When I said yes, her attitude seemed to change and said that they would deduct it from my check. So, I had the ribeye steak and carrot cake. The cake was excellent, the ribeye was okay, but for the price and the fact that steaks are supposed to be what they are famous for, it wasn't worth the experience.
What happened next is where my opinion of Petrelli's goes into the dumper. When they brought the check it was extremely difficult to understand. There was garbled handwriting and notations all over it. When I took a long time looking at it a man came over and asked what I was doing. I do not like being rushed. As it was, I had finally figured out what they did just before he arrived.
Would you believe it ... they had done it wrong AGAIN. I pointed out the mistakes, he grabbed the check and rushed off. His body language clearly showed that he was aggravated.
About five minutes later, Mrs. Petrelli came to my table. It's hard to know what her purpose was. She seemed to be making the case that I should ignore the $1.03 error they made this time. She complained that when I use a credit card, they charge her 75 cents. I asked, "What does that have to do with this?" At which point she erupted, saying "I don't have to worry about money" and stormed off.
About another five minutes later the waiter brought the same check with new scribbling and a new calculator listing stapled over the old one. It took me a bit to understand this one and, even though there was a 3 cent error, I decided to ignore it and get out of that place, never to return!
It was never about the money to me it was about the principle of the issue. They should take immediate responsibility for their mistakes!
Indulge me while I reminisce. I had this happen to me at Chasen's; a wonderful restaurant that was frequented by many famous people. Sadly, it closed down in 1995. Anyway, when I pointed out their error, they comped my entire meal and apologized profusely, never making me feel petty
If it was the money why would I spend $34.95 for a mediocre ribeye? And $7.95 for a delicious but small...
Read moreHonestly iv been coming here for 25 years of my life im 30. My parents use to take us here I love the place. Mr & Mrs Petrelli were always so kind! Mrs.Petrelli bless her heart is still so amazing and nice! The staff specifically the busboy a few waiters not all are amazing. Now I have been coming here even during covid durning everything with my husband who I put on to this place. Today though regardless of some of the crapiest service we have gotten we never left a horrible review... today though I just had too.. why?? You may ask... well we called a ahead as we normally do and a person answered we asked wait time and do we need a reversation they said no wait time no reservation.... fast forward we get there and who is at the door to greet us Mrs. Petrellis daughter and my God! Have we put up with her. She is literally the worst and has absolutely no idea what customer service is always extremely rude super unfriendly (always looked pass this cause I love the place).. asked do we have a reservation we said no because we were told we did not need one. Not only did she roll her eyes at my husband she then told him in one of the most godawful hate for customers tone i have ever heard her use...she was the only one to pick the phone and she never said that... the proceed to ask if we wanted to join a wait list of 30 minutes... needless we did not stay... I will say this if the daughter is left in charge of the restaurant it will not fo good unless her attitude changes toward customers the people that bring money to this place out of respect for the Pertllis... I'm so sad to say she the daughter continues the way she is treats customers this place will not last long my opinion anyway she may be nicer to caucasian people... the those of colored just saying in my opinion of course. With that said I'm disappointed I had to leave this review in...
Read moreIt hurts my heart to write this review because I have been going to Petrelli's steakhouse for over 20 years. My favorite dish is the filet mignon and their salads are excellent. On 9/23/22, I went to Petrelli's and I sat at the bar.
After sitting there for a few moments, I felt something on the back of my ankle so I rubbed my ankle. Then, I felt something on my leg and I rubbed my leg. To make a long story short I was bitten by fleas about 10 times while I was sitting at the bar waiting for my food.
I was so horrified that I asked the bartender to pack up my food and I went out and ate my food in the car. I have been scratching ever since. I'm really sad that this happened because I will not be able to go back to Petrelli's even though they have great food.
I was not scratching before I came to the restaurant. I was not scratching when I used their restroom. I only started scratching after I sat at the bar and felt something on my leg. I hope they read this review and sprinkle some borax on the carpet that covers the side of the bar and the floor. I told a few people what had happened and they didn't even say that they were sorry. Not a good luck. I will spare you the pictures of my bites.
Update: I called the restaurant just to let them know that I had written a yelp review and I talked to the daughter of the owner who was completely dismissive of my concerns. She said that no one else has been bitten so she didn't think that I had been bitten in the restaurant. She continued to talk over me and when I tried to explain or have a cordial conversation, she abruptly interrupted so communication was difficult. This is really sad. I used to always speak to Sophie when I went in and I would make her smile. She was always nice to me and so this is not a reflection on her, I think her daughter could learn some things about...
