I'm not one of those who likes to slam a restaurant over trivial annoyances. I try to be fair and balanced with my reviews, this will be no exception. To start, the staff in general, as well our server, were excellent, sans the manager which I'll get to in a second. The ambiance was on par for the price level. The food for the most part was just OK, the exception being the loaded baked potatoes and the asparagus, both were very good. As expected, the Caymus went down exceptionally well! So why 2 stars? The issue started with that nights special, the Waygu Boneless Ribeye. Cooked medium rare I'd expect near fork tender for the most part. At the price point of twice their "regular Boneless Ribeye" I'd expect a rather exceptional steak. Unfortunately in this case the term subpar would be a compliment. I could go on and on about being tough, chewy, etc but the jist here is what I received was inedible. So I got a bad steak, so what, right? This is where things go sideways. I didn't say anything about the issue, it was actually the server that noticed the pile of chewed up spit out meat on my plate, as well as the 2/3rd's of the steak I hadn't even attempted a pass at yet, all while my dining companion was nearly finished with her fillet. He asked if something was wrong, I commented it was not as expected and I chalked it up to getting a bad cut and said to just let it be. He didn't (which doesn't surprise me as he was an excellent server), instead he conveyed the issue to the manager. So the manager comes over and rattles the same bs you'd expect from a manager who comes tableside for customer service and retention. He offered to replace the steak and I refused; I wasn't in the mood to wait and my partner was finished with her meal at this point. He offered to comp the steak which I also refused. He then offered to discount the steak by half, in which I finally agreed would be satisfactory. This was by far a more than acceptable offer and quite honestly, I would have come back regardless simply due to every other aspect of the experience was average or above for the price point. So the bill comes. No itemized bill, just a receipt printed with the total. The total? Yep, you guessed it, exactly what it would have been sans discount. So I ask the table to our left who also just got their check if I could see there bill... Itemized, what a surprise. Even funnier, just before the server came with our check he approached the manager and was handed our tab (I literally watched him walk from the register to the left of the bar where the manager passed it to him and then directly to our table). This is just shaddy. If you say you are going to do something, do it! You're over here cloak and dagger style trying to pull a fast one over 40 bucks, all while being an offer you made, an offer that I didn't want nor request in the first place? It's akin to welching on a bet, not cool. As I didn't request the discount in the first place I didn't bring it up, instead doubling the servers tip which he most definitely earned and writing this review which Dario's "management" most certainly earned as well.
Update 9/26/20 - Raising 1 star due to an acceptable response by the establishment. I appreciate Dario's acknowledging ownership of the issues and taking steps in the right direction while not trying to...
Read moreAmazeballs! This was our 1st stop for our HRW experience and it definitely did not disappoint! Everything was quite tasty! A few tasted better than others but overall, it was great! Service was outstanding! Greg was super attentive and friendly too! Would definitely recommend!
We went in for date night and this was the perfect spot! It was dimly light but not extremely dark. Make sense? haha but yeah. It felt really nice and cozy inside. Super cute spot for date night or even family outings!
We both got the HRW menu and ordered an appetizer as well.
Beef carpaccio was our least favorite dish. Which was also the first dish to come out as our appetizer. The taste was fine but I think the beef can be more thinly sliced. It was rather thick for being a carpaccio dish. And it was just one giant piece! Usually it’s a lot of thinly pieces. So it was difficult to eat. We had to slice it ourself. However. The fried capers.. wow those were so good! And the dressing on it was tasty as well! Just wish the meat itself was more thin and less chewy!
Lobster bisque & shrimp scampi couscous was absolutely luxurious! The shrimp scampi was beautiful plated and tasted amazing. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was light and enjoyable. I was never a big fan of couscous but these were nice. Had a good chew to it. Tasted even better when I had drizzled the lobster bisque into it! Pro tip. You’ll thank me later! haha ooh and the lobster bisque was insanely good! My bf enjoyed it alot and he’s super picky with seafood! It was savory, creamy and well balanced with the right amount of lobster meats. So good!
By the time our main course came out, I was already full! Portions are huge for me! haha but I like that! Worth your money! The seared snapper with crab meats delish! Fish was perfectly cooked and tons of crab meats! I only took a few bites and had asked the waiter to box it. My bf ended up just sharing the filet mignon. I love green beans so I ate most of that. Simply sautéed with some salt and pepper. The mashed potatoes was smooth and fluffy! The steak was on the small side but that’s a given since it’s on the HRW. It was cooked perfect medium rare. The sauce was a bit much for me but still tasty! Overall both dishes were great!
We are both not dessert people so we took the chocolate cake home (both full at this point) and we opted for the sorbet duo to end the night. Something lighter. It was enjoyable. Not the best but not bad!
I’m so glad we found this place and it wasn’t too far from us. As we live in Katy, and there’s really nothing good out here! haha so driving 20 mins to Cypress wasn’t bad. This will definitely be a new date night...
Read moreWe made a reservation for 12:30 pm and we're seated immediately. The waiter brought us water and a menu. 12:40 we ordered. We were left alone until 1:15 when staff came over and asked if we would like our desserts. Puzzled, I let them know we had yet to receive our food let alone complimentary bread and butter. About 5 minutes later we were brought our first course then after finishing the first course the bread and butter finally arrived. The shrimp scampi consisted of 2 small pieces of shrimp and 1/4 c. angel hair pasta. It was pretty much tasteless and the shrimp was overcooked. I decided to to have it boxed up to take home so I might add flavor. By 1:40pm we were still waiting for the 2sd course. Another wait staff over came by and asked if I wanted my check. "What!? We haven't even had our food yet!" I told her. 5 minutes later our 2sd course came out. I had Mahi-Mahi, mash potatoes and green beans. The food wasn't bad, but it WASN'T great! Again wait staff came over and asked if I wanted my check. I replied, "Why do you keep asking me if I want my check when I haven't received everything? We have yet to receive our dessert, What is going on?" 2:00 our desserts came out. I immediately asked if I could have them to go and have our check. We finally left at 2:10. The picture below is the cream brulee. It looks like throw up! Omg! What did they do to it?! We were not the only table to receive terrible service. All the other tables around us received the same or worse service! Some had dirty silverware or dinner plates that needed replacing. Others had their food and desserts brought to the wrong table, then handled and then served to the rightful customer. On one of these occasions we were brought someone else's birthday cake with happy birthday on it and a candle. I told the waiter I didn't order this, it's not my birthday! Later, we were given cheesecake, again I told the the waiter we didn't order this, we ordered creme brulee and the chocolate cake. The food was abruptly taken up and put on the rightful owners table. It was never taken back to the kitchen to get a brand new plate or dish! I saw this happen on several occasions. This is not fine dining nor is it upscale! This is more like over priced cafeteria food served in dressed up decor with apathetic wait staff. I've had better service at McDonald's or Chick-fil-A than here. I do NOT recommend...
