I'll start by giving credit where it's due: the sandwiches made by Jersey Mike's are really good.
But my review goes downhill from there.
I've patronized Jersey Mike's twice now - the second time was the Barker-Cypress location in Cypress, TX, and the first was the Fairfield location in Cypress, TX. I learned the following from these two visits:
Sandwich construction is streamlined for cold meats because its workflow is very similar to Subway's. Sandwich construction for grilled/hot meats, however, becomes a nightmarish quagmire if the order doesn't simply involve standard components included in the sandwich. Because I always want fresh veggies on my sandwiches, I requested lettuce, tomato, onion, etc., and the ordering process took forever, as did sandwich construction. If Jersery Mike's actually reads reviews to learn from them, they should seriously consider doing what Subway does with their hot sandwiches; allow their customers to customize their toppings in the same line as their cold sandwiches. Jersey Mike's employees get grumpy when asked to customize hot sandwiches. And I don't appreciate that. Jersey Mike's employees don't know their own menu - when I paid for my Big Kahuna Cheese Steak the woman kept referring to chicken so I said, "but ma'am, I ordered a Big Kahuna Cheese Steak", and she responded, "I know. It has chicken". So I looked again at the menu and, in a friendly voice said, "but ma'am, I ordered a #56". While correcting her mistake she made a snide comment which I've since let roll of me like water off a duck's back - but again, I didn't appreciate it. Their only sides are potato chips, which represents a huge improvement opportunity for this entire market because Jersey Mike's, Subway, Schlotzky's, etc. all do this. Whichever sandwich company expands their selection of sides first (french fries, onion rings, etc., etc., etc.) will dominate the market until the others catch up. Mark my words. Speaking of things I don't appreciate about Jersey Mike's Subs, while tasty, they're grotesqely overpriced. THEN, they expect a tip. When was the last time you tipped at McDonalds, In'n'Out, Whataburger, KFC, etc.? I SAY NO TO TIPPING...
Read moreWe were returning customers, ordering subs 1-3 times a week for months. Couple of days ago, we ordered online through Doordash, but when showed up to pickup the orders, we were told that one of the orders had been picked up by someone else! We insisted that it was not us, but manager on duty did not believe us and asked for order confirmation. This was presented, but she still hesitated to prepare the order. She mannered so irrespectful during our visit and would not answer our concerns and questions. She then called the business owner (while she could have resolved the issue herself by remaking one) and he talked to me three- four times on the phone call. He also called Doordash and cancelled both orders. He even checked the cameras to determine who picked up the order. Just imagine that a very small issue that was initiated by store associate (when they handed over our order to a wrong person) turned to be a complicated one, because nor manager neither owner did not know how to manage the situation and respect customer. This costs us an hour an half waste of time for just associate fault lines n not paying attention that who is the order for! So sorry for this store that lost business with a loyal family! Let me also add this that they finally re-made our orders, but again, this could have been handled sooner with respect and not after all those unnecessary...
Read moreI went in today for lunch on a mere whim. I was not disappointed. The young Asian gentleman was awesome, I wish I got his name. He took and cooked my order, a reg. cheese steak. The meat was hot, cheese melted, fillings were spread evenly on the bread. He did an awesome job. I had my sandwich in hand less than 3 minutes after I ordered it. I highly recommend this store for your lunch craving needs. By the way, y'all have fabulous unsweetened tea. You have a new regular customer. Thank you.
Update 01-05-24 Its been about 6 months that I have been a regular, 4-6 times a month, to my wife's displeasure. Every single solitary visit has been nothing but 5 star. The manager is the difference, 100%. He is superior to any manager the chain can possibly have. I hope he goes far in management, he has what it takes. His customer service and attention to every detail is awesome. I honestly cannot come up with a single criticism, none. Top notch, every...
