When we walked in there was only, the person in front of us in line. It was a Saturday night around 8:15, 45 minutes before they closed. Within 5 minutes the lion had about five people in it. They don't have cold drinks in the front except for like seltzer water. I am a juice person and they don't have juice except the fountain lemonade minutemaid, or unsweet fountain tea. The rest is soda.
The workers are nice, there was the cashier and then two workers on the line. It took like 20 to 25 minutes to get our food. The workers look stressed, as they are doing pick up orders as well as orders of people there. I didn't realize there was like three people ahead of us who were waiting for their food as well. Eventually another person joined to help them in the food line.
I got the lamb meat and vegetables and falafel. My husband got lamb meat and rice and vegetables.
They didn't have any yogurt sauce in the pumps for customers to access, you had to ask the people from the line and even then they only had one. Eventually the cashier was free and could refill the one in the back for the customers. It is bland, though. They also have a jalapeno one and one other sauce.
For me, the meat is shaved, so that's fine, but it lacks taste. It's not seasoned well, so it's lackluster. The falafel is different. It has big chunks and full chickpeas in it. I didn't love it. The vegetables were good.
My husband said the same about the meat. The rice was slightly better, but not as good as the yellow rice we get down the road.
Overall, this may be somewhere that I would visit maybe once in a blue moon if other things were not open. Just wasn't my jam, especially compared to the other gyro and lamb...
Read moreOut of all the new counter service, quick restaurants that have opened on Fry and Tuckerton in the last several months, TKS handled the grand opening process and experience better than the rest.
The staff seems well trained, friendly, they managed the crowd much better than a couple of their competitors around the corner in the same shopping center, and we're open to feedback.
I had the beef kofta wrap and it was very good. I do wish the kofta was cooked a little more well done and had a bit more char on it.
Edit: finally made it back and man what a disappointment. $74 for 1 plate, 2 wraps, a side of fries, and 3 sodas. They forgot the pita for the hummus, rice on one of the wraps, and 4 of the dips. Shame on me for not checking the bag but man, $74 for three people for fast food and they can't get it...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, the 1 star is solely for the atmosphere. The food and the service deserve 5 stars. This has become my go to since the restaurant opened. However, the restaurant is entirely TOO HOT! The temperature in Houston has been set to h$ll since April. I frequent this place at least every other week and it is consistently hot. About 2 weeks ago, I almost fainted waiting on my food. It sucks because you can’t enjoy your food there due to the temperature inside so I only order to go or order online. I suspect this is the reason others take their food to go as well. It doesn’t even seem like the air is on, where the guests eat. To the owner, this needs to be addressed immediately. This is Houston, the air is a necessity in...
