City Tavern — Restaurant in Dallas

This place is beyond terrible and ridiculous! I just left this establishment after going there as a way to try and spend my Wednesday night. I had one beer here along with some chips and queso and they had the nerve to stop serving me, claiming that I “seemed intoxicated”. What an absolute joke! I would also like to point out that my queso came out cold and I could tell that it had just been sitting in the window, so I had to send it back to be heated up. The bartender was also kinda rude and kept saying all these stupid jokes that I didn’t think were funny at all. That one beer I had there is the only thing drink I’ve had all day. Plus, there was a very loud and obnoxious man sitting right next to me who was plain as day far more intoxicated than I was, but of course they had absolutely no problem getting him another one. I’m a very quiet and reserved type of person who is the type to go into a bar and not talk to or bother anyone, which was exactly what I was doing in there. I showed absolutely no signs of intoxication and was just sitting there being my normal quiet and respectful self. I also tried to respectfully explain that I was just fine, and that was my only drink for the night but they wouldn’t believe me for some reason. Only good thing about this place is that its cheap. I’m writing this review about 10 minutes after leaving so obviously I’m not that intoxicated if I can write this clearly and concisely. Like I said…. a joke. As an outtowner, I ventured in for a casual place for a beer and some food. The place itself was what I expected out of a neighborhood sports bar. Dimly lit with lots of TV's with a combination of bar, tables and booths...it was what I was looking for, however the "art" of a bartender is completely lost here. I say art as it is or was just that, I bartended for 2 decades, but all too often a drink is plonked down in front of you and it is considered bartending and that describes my experience to a tee!! I selected a pilsner on tap and went about drinking my beer. After 10 minutes of not one word from the staff I clearly eyed up the whisky selections on both sides. An astute, hell a half awake bartender would have caught this as busy they were not, but that would involve putting the phone down which barely left his hand the entire time I was there. Ordering a crown I then ordered a burger which was described as the best thing on the menu. It was ok so dare I say I ever came back food would be consumed elsewhere. No... how was your food? or as my glass was emptying was offered a refill so it was one and done!!! We are all entitled to a bad day and COVID has us all in a different place, even though the latter IMO due to the lack of customers and consequent tips should push you to engage 10 fold but they chatted to a regular so I see those as excuses and justifications for the poor service. As always....would I come back?? No...too many choices in...

I went to this bar tonight, even though I’ve had Really Bad experiences before, to try and give it another chance. I sat down and waited for awhile, before a bartender even acknowledged that I was there. Finally “Elaina” took our Oder and shortly thereafter, began to berate one of her “regulars” (this was according to her) and then as we were Finally getting our drinks, she told him really loudly to “get the F out” (she used entire word). When I asked what the problem was (because this guy was sitting directly beside me and I never saw a problem), She told me, and my guests, that if I had a problem that I could “Get the F out also” (Again... using the full word). So I immediately left and will NEVER EVER be back!!!! This bar has always been hot and uncomfortable and the staff Rude, but I was trying to give them another chance, but after being treated the way that I was for merely asking why one of their regulars was treated badly....
