We wandered into Elm Street when staying in town for 1 night. Was told by staff that they could not seat us right away even though there were empty tables because they had just gotten a lot of people and the staff was overwhelmed. I've worked in restaurants, and this is fair. We were told we could sit at the bar if we wanted to. Great.
We sit at the bar order drinks, which take a bit, but the staff is busy, and it's okay. My husband ordered the smoky old fashioned. They don't put the glass under a dome like most places. They have this little contraption that goes on top of the glass where they burn the wood with a torch right on top of the glass and then put on a lid and bring it out and take the little contraption off. It's a cool presentation. However, with the wood being right next to the liquor and everything it tasted, charred not smoked, and the whole drink, including the cherry, was not tasty. I would not recommend. My husband has had these drinks other places and they have a subtle smoky taste which is interesting without being overwhelming. He didn't finish it and asked fir a beer instead. Which was given to us the drink was taken away, not a word was said by staff.
Next we order an appetizer and a burger to share. Bartender was noticeably upset about us sharing an entree, which is usually understandable but we are at the BAR. Where 1/2 the people don't order food. He goes to ring up food and comes back like 3 minutes later with our calamari fries. Remember the kitchen is overwhelmed because of a lot of tables, so I'm thinking hmm. Yep calamari was tough the cabbage underneath were wilted. They had probably been an incorrect order by someone else and we got the mistake that had been sitting under the hot lamps for a while. The flavor was good, the roumalade was great. Just wish they would have been fresher.
The single girl down the bar in this time gets her order of tacos. They are made incorrectly. Bartender apologizes because she was supposed to get all beef but gets one of each. She keeps them, because she's hungry. He then their kitchen sucks🤨 Okaaayyy.. we finally get our burger. Takes about 25 minutes, and it's wrong. They did replace it quickly. The blue cheese we ordered was not my thing, my husband liked it. We both agreed the fries were great. The burger was more Medium well instead of Medium Rare, but most places don't get that right on a burger. It seems to be burn it and put it on the bun.
Overall I probably won't go back again. If you end up here. Make sure you get the fries, maybe with a side of the...
Read moreThanksgiving dinner ruined. I don't want to write negative reviews. I have never been treated this bad at a food establishment. Whataburger and McDonalds customer service is 5 star to them. We had an evening dinner reserved at Elm Street Cask & Kitchen and drove all the way from Arlington TX with our kids. When we showed up at the restaurant the hostess said they were closed. The hostess told us they ran out of food and sorry about that. Interestingly this same person when we called said they had been working since 6am, it was slow they decided to close. I said "what" and arrived while she was still holding the phone. They never notified us or anyone from the reservations list. It was obvious that they did not care about the time, money for gas and paid parking and effort to get there. If they had called us or texted in advance it would have been no problem. Her attitude was uncaring and short. I asked for the manager and was told she left 15 minutes before. They brought out a person from the back and he admitted to me that the Elm St staff were not trained properly and it was no way to run a business. He at least listened and let slip they started running low on food at 2pm. They had hours to notify the reservations list. The two hostesses especially the one answering the phone could not even act like they were nice. They treated us like dirt. I was waiting for them to laugh at us. I wouldn't eat there if I had a free meal after that. Please train your staff to notify customers of closings. Please train your staff not to roll their eyes at customers and act professional. Please train your staff to try to be polite and care about human beings. We left with our kids starving and no idea where to go on...
Read moreThe food was good and the whiskey selection was diverse with very good prices for their pours. We had the pimento cheese dip, flat iron steak and beef short rip. The service was pretty slow even though there were only 4 tables seated in the restaurant with mulitpe servers. Our waiter didn't bring our food, it was a member of the kitchen staff, and then didn't check on us for almost 5 minutes after the food was delivered. I ordered a drink off the menu and they were unable to make it because they didn't have eggs (the drink required egg whites) and Prichard bitters, both very common ingredients. I was able to overlook everything as the hiccups of a new restaurant opening but my main issue was as I was leaving, the table next to us asked where thier leftover brussel sprouts were that our waiter was supposed to pack up for them. I was walking out as they asked this and I saw the waiter walk over to the drink station, look around for a few seconds then talk to a bus boy. The next thing he did was start looking through the trash and pulled out a to-go container with their leftovers, put it in a bag and bring it to the table. I was completely grossed out! I waited table for almost 5 years and would never pull leftovers out of the trash to give to a table. Tell the kitchen and have them remake the side dish for the table. I would have gone back but not after witnessing that complete disregard for food safety and the...
