On Friday, November 3, 2023 we ordered a "Hot Box" with fries and 6 sauces. for carry-out. I drove 15 minutes to pick it up and reviewed the order with the man at the counter. He handed me a bag that was tied and taped closed and assured me item by item that everything in my order was included. After driving back home and opening the bag, I discovered that our fries and sauces were NOT included. I called the store and spoke with the manager. He apologized for the mistake and said that the next time I came in the store, our family's meal would be on the house. He said he was putting my name on a bulletin board and that I should tell workers that "Lonnie said our next meal would be complimentary."
Today is Saturday, November 18, 2023. I returned to the store with my receipt from the previous order to claim the complimentary meal promised by Lonnie. Upon arrival, I asked for Lonnie. He was there and remembered me. However, he denied the fact that he promised our family a complimentary meal to make up for the error. I reminded him what he told me on our previous phone call, and he simply said he couldn't do that. He then offered to comp $3.49 off the fries and a 10% discount on the "Hot Box". I was expecting a complimentary meal. Instead, our total came out to $43.97.
I left the restaurant feeling deceived and frustrated after two disappointing 15-minute drives to and from the restaurant. The lack of integrity in the management is the reason why we will be taking our business elsewhere. There are plenty of other hot chicken...
Read moreI wrongly thought the Reaper was fun marketing so ordered it. It is served in a separate tray. I could eat only four small bites, about 20%. The first bite was ok for a few seconds, but when I swallowed it, the powder coated my throat and burned. Then my lips were burning for the next 30 minutes. My eyes watered a lot. I had slight gastrointestinal pain, and the next morning spent time on the throne also with my mouth watering as if about to throw up; 24 hours to recover.
This is named for the Carolina Reaper pepper, created from 2001-2013 by an American breeder from the hottest peppers in India and the Caribbean, certified in 2017 as the hottest in the world, and named for its sickle-shaped tail. It has very dense capsaicin (cap-SAY-sin), the chemical in pepper spray. Capsaicin produces a burning sensation in any tissue it comes in contact with. Plain water is ineffective in removing it, but cold milk can be effective due to forming an emulsion with it. People with heart problems can die of a heart attack.
I also had the next-level down Extra Hot tender in a slider, and it was fine, but that and french fries with catsup didn't dilute the reaper pepper's capsaicin.
Bottom line, it isn't a marketing gimmick (grin)! For now on, it's medium or...
Read moreThe blonde lady at the front was so high (not being disrespectful, she had extremely red and glazed eyes and appeared to be incoherent) that she barely talked to me or communicated with me about picking up my order. She placed my order in with another customer’s bag and continued to ignore me. The kitchen staff told her that they had already given my food and she had taken it. She realized she put it into the wrong bag and just kept laughing about the situation. I asked where my food was after she was laughing and she didn’t respond and looked at me and kept stickering the food. She then tells me to verify the order on DoorDash yet it’s a pickup order and not a delivery and she tells me I need to wait. At this point the manager see that I’m far beyond irritated and tries to intervene and ask what the problem is. I lay out the facts to him just like this review and then I get to take the food home.
If you’re going to be working WHETHER HIGH OR NOT, make sure you can do the job in either of those states of mind because clearly the work she is putting in is not nearly to the same as the work she provides.
Also the food was meh and this will be my first and last time here. Don’t think it was a quality issue, food just wasn’t up to the...
