We came here for the first time today, around the heart of lunch time on a Sunday. The place was empty (there was one other table when we left) and the staff leapt into action upon our arrival. They did not disappoint.
The place is in the strip of shops adjacent to the Sam's/Walmart complex on Retail Road, barely noticeable from the outside. In fact, I've been driving past it for the 20 years or so since Walmart here first opened without a second thought.
Inside, the space is tastefully decorated in industrial hacienda style, clean with just right natural light, and welcoming. The menu was the same as every other day (no brunch menu) with a wide range of choices, and the service was just the right amount of attentive.
The food here blew us away. Everything from the crispy chips and smoky spicy salsa, to my poblano mole chicken, to Jamie's chicken tortilla soup and salsa verde tamales (with an impossibly thin jacket of masa surrounding well seasoned moist porky goodness) was just outstanding, just as good as places with price points 2-3X more in trendy neighborhoods around the city. The sauces were complex and delicious, and generously applied to each of the dishes.
We will be back soon, and share our new discovery with friends and family at every opportunity. Go here, check it out, and experience the hidden in plain sight gem for yourself. I'll bet that it earns a regular spot on your dining out rotation, just as...
Read moreUPDATE ON MY REVIEW: Mr Owner, do you realize in the tone you answer to my review is? This is not the way to talk to a customer even when you apologize. I was just asking for a good service in my visit. Even if your 2nd best restaurant doesn’t mean every customer has an exceptional experience with service and food at your restaurant. If you think I’m writing this review for FREE FOOD I AM NOT! The way you write in your review is so rude. I have proof I did go to eat to your restaurant whether I got confused with the date or not. I am more upset now than I was after leaving the restaurant. Please next time watch the wording of your words when talking to a customer. I have not wrote a lie in any of my words and if you got offended it’s not my issue.
I came for a late lunch (3pm) on Wednesday October 2. This was my first time visiting and I was so dissatisfied and disappointed. I had read so many good reviews on goggle and nothing was like I read. I ordered the Lunch Steak Fajitas and an extra side of French fries. The French fries they have me a small plate and it was like they had counted them. I ordered black beans, they brought refried. I asked for the change and the waitress did not want to do it she said they couldn’t change. LIKE WHY??? The rice was cold. I mean why not provide a good service from the...
Read moreI have been to Emilios three times within a month. The first visit was great, but the last two was not too good. The second visit; I ordered through Yelp and went to pick up my order. When I arrived; the greeter spoke little English and informed me that they didn't have my order. She then went to I believe was the manager of Arabic or Indian decent and he asked me what I ordered and dated that they did not work with Yelp; but Grubhub not knowing Yelp is affiliated with Grubhub; and then he walked away. I sat waiting for an hour with no update. So I decided to leave with no complaint. I tried Emilios again yesterday and I called in my order this time and I was told my order would be ready in 10 mins. I arrived 20 mins later to give them time and my ordered was not ready. I waited an additional 10 mins before I got my order. I have concluded that this would be my last time going to Emilios. The food is good but the service is selective and not good for all. DFW have better Mexican restaurants that has great food and service. Emilio's should try to take some pointers...
