This place is racist⦠and does not take care of the customer. I went into the coffee shop with AT&T coworkers. Discussing coffee selections with coworkers, calling my coworkers by their name, etc. clearly I knew them. The lady range me up for a 12 oz coffee and it was $5.68. I said to my co-worker, āwow⦠this is high⦠I thought you said this was cheaper?ā My co-worker went next (white male) and he got a 16 oz and his was $4.83. I asked 2X⦠why was his cheaper and she didnāt say anything. My co-worker finally said, ādid you get the AT&T discountā? She said she didnāt know I worked for At&T. Now⦠being realistic I came in with two co-workers, we were talking in line, calling each other by our names, then⦠I had a whole conversation with my co-workers (prior to paying) about the price. The worker never said anything regarding an AT&T discount. However, when she rang up my co-worker⦠she didnāt even ask him⦠just gave home the discount. When the manager came up, she didnāt offer to give me the discount. I asked to have my money refunded and she said sure. When I got back to the office, I called up there to see who I could make a complaint to⦠and she said, āIām the manager and my dad is the owner and we have been here for 13 yearsā. I said, āso⦠does that give you the right to mistreat ur customers?ā She said, āI gave you ur money back⦠and Iām not going to have this conversation with youā. From a mangerās perspective if you really wanted to do the right thing, you would have compensated me (at minimum offer the discount), apologize, and still give me my coffee. There was no apology. I will never visit...

We walked down Ervay to the Starbucks at the Hampton Inn & Suites, only to find that it doesn't open until 7am. So we turned down Commerce and happened upon the Flying Horse Coffee Shop. What a GREAT find!
We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by the barista behind the counter. We did not feel hurried or forgotten. Indeed, the barista answered our questions with genuine interest, as if she truly wanted to help us.
Great selection of pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Great selection of breakfast drinks, including some fruity drinks like an old-style orangecicle. Great venue - with emphasis on wood - with high tops, regular tables (including some VERY large ones), and cozy nooks. Plenty of different kinds of spaces for conversations of every kind.
Couple great things we noted while there: The barista knew a lot of people by name. A lot of people knew the barista by name. They had dog treats for people who stop in walking their dogs. The music/noise level was appropriate for creating conversation.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was staying at Magnolia and had no idea that this place was attached until I got there! I'm surprised at how reasonably priced everything is. I don't go to cafes often but I think it's comparable in price or cheaper than Starbucks. One morning we got a cinnamon roll and a Belgian waffle. I got a strawberry coconut smoothie and my spouse got a vanilla bean frappe (which they loved so much they got a bigger one the next morning). The next day we got a chocolate croissant and a Nutella turnover. I think each of the pastries was about $2.50? So not bad pricing. The second morning I got a hot caramel apple cider, which was delicious but all the caramel went to the bottom of the cup š Anyway this place is dog friendly and they even have a jar of treats at the front š„ŗ The workers are all super nice and friendly, even the ones we ran into on the Magnolia...
