I originally booked a room for 4 nights for a work conference, but within 6 hours of checking into the hotel I found another hotel to spend my remaining 3 nights in Dallas and cancelled the rest of my reservation. We arrived before guaranteed check in and completely understood not being able to get into the room early due to housekeeping still cleaning them, however, the front desk agent was incredibly rude when we asked if we could pre-check in so the hotel knew we had arrived. We were told we would be called when the room was ready and decided to go grab lunch. Guaranteed check in is at 3pm, at 2:45 we arrived back at the hotel to see if there were any rooms ready and again were told with a poor attitude that check in wasn’t until 3pm and we would be called. We sat in the lobby and waited until 4pm, still no phone call. At that point we asked what the status of the room was and we were told “it is your groups fault that you can’t check in on time. We had 100 rooms checkout and not enough housekeeping staff to clean the rooms.” First of all, extremely poor response to a question, second of all “my group” had to store their luggage before closing session started at 9am which means the rooms we’re vacant by 8am, third this is not the first time our conference has been in Dallas, nor were we the first group to come in, the hotel should have forecasted what to expect, and I can accurately say that having worked in the hospitality industry for 6 years with 5 of those being at the front desk. I completely understand the frustration of people wanting to check in and not being able to, however, having an attitude is the worst response to have in that situation. At approximately 5pm I again asked about the room and asked them to contact housekeeping knowing the system sometimes has not been updated with ready rooms. The housekeeper responded with approximately 15 room numbers that were ready and, “have been ready for the last hour and a half.” Once in the room the frustration only grew. The internet that is free is spotty at best, and I wanted to pay for the enhanced internet. When calling down to the front desk to ask how to reconnect to the home page I was told, “we are too busy to handle this right now and they would call me back.” There was not a call back, nor was the number I was eventually given for IT support even a company that works with the AC currently. The whole situation was beyond frustrating, but the most frustrating part was the attitudes from the staff and them saying they would do something and not follow through. If you want to stay nearby the Residence Inn is in the same building, with larger and nicer rooms, incredibly friendly and helpful staff and appreciate your business. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else...
Read moreThis is supposed to be a business traveler hotel, and yet the music in the lobby was as loud as a nightclub. We could not even hold a conversation in the lobby without walking outside. I asked the front desk to turn it down, and they said it was "pre-programmed". Seriously? The volume of the music in the lobby is not controllable by the staff? Talk about not trusting employees. Remind me never to apply to work for Marriott.
While the rooms were clean for sure, the room itself can only be described as stark. The walls were darker brown, fake paneling, and there were NO wall decorations; just a big screen TV. There was also dresser/chesterdrawers; only a long table. The room felt more like a prison cell than a hotel room. The same goes for the hallways, elevator, and front lobby. I usually make fun of interior decorators for worrying about things I consider trivial, but this hotel showed me the value of a good one over a bad one. I had no desire to "hang around" the hotel at all, either in the lobby or in the room. The decor was "depressing" and "uninviting".
The modern bathrooms were also dark. I liked the modern bathroom look, but the lighting for shaving was terrible. I do like the low flush toilets to save water, but the toilet itself was tiny. I'm a very tall man, and the height and size of the toilet made it difficult to use.
I was excited when I saw the double shower head, and I love stand up showers with doors instead of curtains. I was disappointed that I couldn't run both shower heads at the same time, but overall I did like the shower. One minor annoyance; there was a large metal cover over the drain, presumably to hide the drain from view. Aesthetically, I like the cover, but because it was metal AND directly under the shower head, water dripped on it and made a sound that reminded me of metal stove pans clanging together.
The staff was good; no complaints there.
The breakfast was different. I tried it one day, and I am NOT a picky eater. I tried everything on the buffet (except cereal and pastries), and she brought me a special from the kitchen. While most of it was good, it was so different from a traditional American breakfast that I had no desire to go again. Let's face it, most Americans like our eggs and bacon/sausage, and my only egg options were cold hard boiled, or a single fried egg on prosciutto with aioli sauce. There was also no oatmeal. Not surprisingly, I was the only person eating the...
Read moreNOT RECOMMEND, in my experience this was the most horrible Customer service. I arrived on Oct/4th/2021 they gave me a room on the eight floors, I requested a lower level room because I do not take elevators. Then Front desk gave me room #301. It was freezing, extremely cold, I turned the heater on, half an hour later the room temperature has not risen. I called front desk and no one answered. I called a second time and no one answered until the third time some one picked up, told Mindy the problem with my room, she send a maintenance person to my room to check on the heater, this gentleman was repeatedly saying to me “it will warm up in a little bit”, after a while he ended up calling his supervisor because he was unable to make it work. Then I after almost 40 min not able to make it work, I asked for a room with a working heater, the lady at the front desk Mindy said she will send someone to my room with the keys for the new room. After waiting for awhile I called her again and asked what happened with the keys for the new room to what she replied that she never said she was going to send someone to bring me the keys that I needed to go downstairs with my luggage and pick up the keys for the new room on the fifth floor, two floors higher than the previous one (i do not take elevators, remember?), unbelievable! I got into the new room and it was freezing cold and again the heater was not warming up. Maintenance person (after talking to his supervisor) said that he have to go to the roof and move something there in order to make it work and on top of that he needed to turn on the heater in three other rooms simultaneously to be able to make mine work which I think is absolutely ridiculous that you need another guest or room to be with the heater on in order to have mine working. Next day I went in person to the front desk and requested for my room to be cleaned up, the person waiting on me said “No problem”. I came back to my room at 5:00 pm and my room was still dirty. I called front desk and ask why wasn’t my room cleaned up and the answered was that I needed to give them 24 hrs notice for them to be able to cleaned up (the front desk person in the morning never mentioned such a thing). I requested more bath wash and they did not have any. Never again staying here. The only reason they got two stars is because the fruit at the restaurant was...
