Tried this place out for the first time on a Thursday evening. Ordered delivery around 8 PM. Order arrive very quickly & everything was as ordered.
Chicken - Outside is kind of spicy - probably some cayenne pepper in the seasoning. Chicken also pretty salty, but moist - brined.
Coleslaw - Sweeter than a typical slaw, but balances the spicy chicken pretty well, has good flavor, & is not soggy.
Potato Salad - Also sweeter than a typical potato salad, but has good flavor, texture, & balances with the spicy chicken well.
Overall, from this experience, I would try this again. Not sure if I’d recommend or not - I wasn’t blown away by anything, but things tasted better than average.
Second time trying this place out. Order delivery via UberEats on a Tuesday evening around 6 PM. Food arrived after 30 minutes. Order was completed correctly.
They didn’t have “Three Piece Dark” that I got last time available on UberEats at the time that I placed the order (probably sold out), so I went with the “Three Tenders”.
Three Tenders - Chicken breast. The outside was not as battered as the three-piece dark & not as much flavor. The outside was rather chewy and perhaps overcooked. The inside was relatively moist for breast, but of course not as moist as dark meat. Chicken was rather bland compared to last time.
Potato Salad - Not as flavorful as last time I ordered it & more watery. This shows some inconsistency.
Macaroni and Cheese - Likely Baked as it was on the dryer side of mac & cheese. Topped with what looks like chipotle powder, but doesn’t add much flavor to the mac & cheese. I would not get this side again.
Fried Pickle Spears - moderately crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Flavor is pretty average. I’ve had butter fried pickle spears elsewhere, but these were fine…good…pickle spears - not disappointing, but not outstanding.
Overall, I was quite disappointed with this experience since I had such a great experience the first time I ordered from this place. Looks like I’ll have to wait another few months for a third try to come to a solid conclusion. Not sure if I would recommend based on this experience. Inconsistency is one of...
Read moreMy review is basically a summary that this restaurant must be having a really hard time in these days, It's amazing to me that they're willing to sacrifice a repeat customer that works in the area for over one order of four tenders fries and an okra. If they're willing to walk away from a customer and a rare set of circumstances and an unusual situation forever over four tenders fries and an okra then obviously I'm spending my money at the wrong place. In the end it's a huge disappointment for me because I don't like offering my loyalty and making recommendations for a restaurant that I end up finding out doesn't value the customer as much as maybe the customer values them. for me going out to eat is a relationship It's an exchange products or goods for money, In my opinion there should be a certain amount of loyalty and respect on both sides, there's no way that store or that restaurant would lose to remain dedicated and committed to a customer by sacrificing four tenders fries and okra over a situation like this by making it again the next time that customer calls in. So too bad. let me close by saying that up till now my four or five other visits I had no issues but I guess sometimes things won't always hold together. there's probably a thousand other fried chicken joints and a reasonable short drive from where they're located so for me it's no real loss. It was just important for me to share my experience with everyone because I'm sure an objective thinker would say the customers probably right on this one, if it's four tenders fries in okra and the customer hasn't provoked any issues or caused any problems it's certainly worth retention alone to make that order again. But this manager made a fiscal administrative decision and has decided that losing a customer over that small order makes perfect sense.
I can only imagine that within the next 3 to 5 years that restaurant won't be...
Read moreVisited by reservation from a friend in Washington DC. This is a restaurant that he had first visited when he worked in Dallas in the past. My friend also visited for the first time in a while. I was surprised that the interior had been renewed. I had a reservation to go later that day, so I picked some. It seems that not all of the options are fried chicken, and you can choose the state origin as stated on the menu. In the case of half chicken plate with mac n cheese, it was labeled as Half Chick'n Plate W/ Mac And Cheese, and the other was fried chicken, but it was not from Texas. Prices of chicken wings prices have skyrocketed in Washington DC, so I only know a few restaurants in Dallas that serve chicken wings. Even Wing Bucket, a chicken restaurant, uses American wings.
We started with the chicken (whole), which you can't go wrong with, and it was as delicious as expected. Next up was two dishes of Mac and Cheese recommended by the restaurant. Beautiful marbling is attractive. There was an explanation of the parts, but I don't remember them. I want you to put a tag with the name of the part on the chicken (make a note of it! lol) The taste of this kind of meal changes considerably depending on how you fry it, so the chefs recommend frying it fairly ultra rare. Is there any female meat? I asked the store, but they didn't have it. (I'm a meat lover who pays close attention to the male and female)
I didn't feel like eating the wings because it was from Canada, but the owner recommended it as delicious, so I ordered it. The result was quite good. Please note that the taste of chicken changes depending on how the chef crew fry it. It won't taste good if it's not cooked over a certain high heat, and overcooking is the...
