As a regular of Shell Shack in Arlington, TX I felt as if I was cheating by stopping by this place but it was a close to home, spur of the moment decision to try this place out.
The short story: Parking is terrible but Id go back. I’d only have the crab legs and hush puppies though.
This is a long story: We got there just after 9pm as we had a late night craving for crab legs but we didn’t feel like driving to Arlington so I was surprised to find out that this place stays open until 2 AM. When we arrived we were greeted by a hostess who immediately sat us down at a table with our menus. Our server (I believe his name was Elmer) came right over and got our drink orders. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and the server came back with our drinks ready to take our order. I ordered one pound of snow crab, one order of hush puppies, sausage, corn and potatoes. Husband ordered the cat fish platter with french fries. We got up to wash her hands came back to the table took a couple sips of our beverages, put on our bibs and my food was on the table and husband’s platter was just a couple of minutes behind. The presentation was what I’ve come to expect at any crab restaurant they dump it onto your plate hot and steamy. In the bag was one ear of corn, which was just OK, the one single potato was hard and under cooked and the pork sausage was an actual disappointment. I honestly really could have gone without all three of those items. The hush puppies on the other hand were crispy on the outside soft and tender on the inside and seasoned to perfection. The crab legs were probably the most juiciest crab legs that I’ve had since being in Dallas... possibly even better than Shell shack‘s crab. The sauce however doesn’t even come close to the kitchen sink sauce at Shell shack, so that was also a little disappointing but it’s not terrible . I don’t remember how much my total was but I left there satisfied and saying that this is my new second. I deducted 2stars for the overall atmosphere and the unprofessional staff(not Elmer) I’m only writing this review because I’m debating on whether I should go back there tonight or take the drive out to Shell shack in Arlington.

I recently had the misfortune of dining at a local seafood establishment, and unfortunately, my experience was a resounding disappointment. As a seafood enthusiast, I was excited to indulge in the freshest catches, but what I encountered was a culinary catastrophe.
Ambiance: 2/5 Upon entering the restaurant, I was initially impressed by the nautical-themed decor, which promised a welcoming and casual dining atmosphere. However, the ambiance quickly took a backseat as the aroma of stale seafood and overpowering garlic wafted through the air, setting the tone for a lackluster experience.
Food: 1/5 The seafood platter I ordered arrived promptly, but the presentation was lackluster, with the dishes sloppily arranged on the plate. The real letdown, however, was the flavor and quality of the seafood. The crab, in particular, was a disaster. It tasted like it hadn't been properly cleaned, with a gritty, sandy texture that was utterly unpleasant. The flavor was equally off-putting, with a strong, fishy taste that lingered long after I'd finished eating.
To make matters worse, the entire dish was overpoweringly garlicky, to the point where it became the dominant flavor profile. I'm not averse to garlic, but in this case, it seemed like a desperate attempt to mask the subpar quality of the seafood.
Value: Considering the subpar quality of the food and the lackluster service, I felt that the prices were inflated. The seafood platter, which would have been a reasonable value had the food been fresh and expertly prepared, felt like a rip-off.
In conclusion, my experience at this seafood establishment was a disappointment from start to finish. The combination of subpar food quality, lackluster service, and inflated prices makes it difficult for me to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unless significant changes are made to address these issues, I would advise seafood enthusiasts to steer clear of this...
Read moreFood is decent but extremely overpriced, the service was awful. We arrived on a Friday after 1PM and all the chairs were still on the tops of the table. It took a while for us to even find a staff member to ask which table we could sit at. Waitress took 30 min before we were able to place our order. Food was fresh but took a long time to come out. The music was off for most of our dining experience but midway through the staff turned on extremely loud music and played the same 3 songs on repeat while we waited an hour for our food to come out. And to make our expensive unsatisfying experience worse, our cars got booted in the parking lot next to the restaurant where there are zero signs on the wall (“bc of a wall mural”). We arrived in 3 cars and were charged $120 per car to remove our boots after we ate. We will never be back. It would have been nice if the staff would mention that the lot next to their restaurant is not free since the parking lot owners do not properly post signs. Also, I would think the staff would be more attentive at 1PM on a Friday regarding restaurant service since that is the waiting staffs job. I would not recommend this restaurant experience to my worst enemy. You can find much better seafood with much better staff in a much better location along with a much better atmosphere in Dallas.
