I’ve been 3 times over the years, each time… “ugh, why did I come back!” Well, this time I learned my lesson. I had sweats and horrible diarrhea from 3:30am until 7am… and yes I took meds at 3:30!!! No sleep during those hours - pissed me off to be exhausted at work!!!
I felt like I was eating ‘air’. The only flavor I could perceive was lettuce, ketchup, bacon, cheese and bread! Absolutely no beef flavor anywhere!!!! No grease because it was frozen and cooked well done. No salt/pepper or anything to say “I’m tasty” - REALLY?!?!!!!!!
As though this wasn’t enough, I cut my burger in 1/2 as usual to get a photo. Although the bun was cut in 1/2… the meat was a different story. (See photos) One half had almost NO MEAT… it was literally 2 bites and what remained was bread and toppings. The meat is 30% smaller than the bun!! What a joke for $15!
I don’t judge, but the clientele I saw has no concept of dining etiquette. People stood 4 inches from my table!!!! I felt like asking them if they were trying to sit with me! Disgusting and ruining my meal. Where do people learn such unacceptable behavior!! On the streets?!?!?!!!
So, now on to the fries. Yes, they seem to be hand cut (through a slicer) with skins remaining, but they are generally soft and limply. If that’s what you like - great. Personally, I expected very crispy fries that crunch when you eat them. (No way of getting that here.)
And the worst part was the Coke fountain. The syrup was obvdialed back to increase profits. (It was not low syrup with high carbonation, it was less syrup!!!) It was horrible and I poured it out and went with’ ‘city water’ from the tap. Ugh!
So about 1/2 way through my burger I started to feel odd. A sour stomach of sorts. By the time I got to the end of the burger… I knew I was in for a bad GI episode and did not finish my meal. I left as fast as I could!
You should do the same… or better yet - trust me and eat at McDonald’s instead!!!! At least you will sleep through the night and avoid major GI issues!!
Eat there are your own risk!!!
…… REPLY to owner. I’m sorry you are so defensive about your food. Yes, your toppings are fresh… but your meat is no good. Sometimes the truth hurts. Try going to any of the other burger places Dallas, you will find flavor there. As for Chicken Express… not sure what you are smoking, but I gave them a 3 star on food and 1 star on service in my review. As well, I understand your personal attack on my palette and knowledge… I’ll simply say, your food speaks for itself. Yes, common people might not know any better, but people used to fine dining will agree with me. Try your competition some time and...
Read moreI've been a loyal patron of JG's Old Fashioned Hamburgers since the early 2000s, and every visit feels like a nostalgic journey through time. This iconic establishment has a special place in my heart, and it's my go-to spot whenever I'm in the mood for some mouthwatering comfort food.
One thing that has remained a constant over the years is the unbeatable quality and flavor of their burgers. While JG's is renowned for their classic hamburgers, my personal favorite has always been the Chicken Bacon Swiss burger. Let me tell you, it's a true masterpiece.
The chicken patty is perfectly seasoned and cooked to juicy perfection, while the crispy bacon adds a delightful crunch and a smoky, savory kick. The melted Swiss cheese takes things up a notch, enveloping every bite in creamy goodness. The combination of flavors and textures in this burger is sheer perfection, and it's a testament to the culinary expertise at JG's.
What I appreciate most about JG's is their commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can taste the difference in every bite. The buns are soft and toasted just right, and the toppings are always crisp and flavorful.
The atmosphere at JG's is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot to catch up with friends or simply indulge in some comfort food on your own. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive dining experience.
Over the years, JG's Old Fashioned Hamburgers has consistently delivered delicious, no-frills food that hits all the right notes. While many things may have changed since my first visit in the early 2000s, the exceptional quality and taste of their Chicken Bacon Swiss burger remain a constant source of delight.
If you're in the mood for a burger that's both nostalgic and utterly satisfying, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting JG's Old Fashioned Hamburgers. Whether you've been a patron for years or you're new to the scene, you're in for a treat that will keep you coming...
Read moreSecond time at JG’s, and definitely recommend checking them out. This time was just a take out burger someone picked up for me. Last time we went in and ate there. If you are craving a good burger, this place is a great pick. Their burgers taste like real hand made burgers with actual flavor in the meat. Lol, I stress that because there are lots of places that make decent tasting burgers, but a lot of the taste comes from the additions and condiments. The actual burgers here are flavorful and have a great taste. They toast the insides of the buns, which is always a nice touch, and helps keep the sandwich sturdy so it doesn’t fall apart. They do cook to order, so it’s not an insta- burger place. It takes time to cook and prepare, but it was still hot by the time it got to my house. There was not an unreasonable wait time at all, when we ate in, or today for the pick up. Just mentioning because we live in an on demand world, and sometimes people have unreasonable expectations around the prep & cook time for real food. The onion rings were really good and crispy and hot when we ate in, as were the fries. All of the items on the salad bar were also fresh and well stocked during a pretty high volume time of early evening. They do stay pretty busy on the weekends. That’s the only time I’ve been, so can’t say about weekdays. It’s in a small strip mall, so parking depends on how busy other places are also. It is usually easy to find parking though and it’s a free parking lot. They greeted us at the counter as soon as we arrived, and that seemed to be their standard. All in all, a really good burger place when nothing but a burger will satisfy...
