Never really been inclined to write a review of something other than a pair of leggings on amazon. However I feel like today is the day. Lets start with the matcha.. Not my favorite, a little watered down but semi enjoyable I get it every time I come here. The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite thing to order at anyplace. White rhino has the best one in my opinion. This one is filled with one piece of ham and one piece of cheese with an overly crispy croissant that breaks apart as you bite it and tough at the bottom. I thought it was a one time fluke so I ordered it again but was met with the same result. I had the their version of a pop tart. It wasn’t too sweet and a little tart. Good for an order out of curiosity. Today I came in early to try their breakfast , I ordered the French toast this was the first item that made me say I need to write a review. The edges were brunt but the middle of the bread was soft almost mushy. It seemed like the pan was too hot and cooked the outside faster than the inside. The syrup is a brown butter syrup which tastes sour (This was an ongoing them). Regular syrup would do just fine. After inspection it seemed to be a cream cheese filling which was also sour. I would like to note that the bread is dipped in a coffee egg concoction. IDK. In conclusion it was all sour and mushy. I will say I am a texture person so this just wasn’t for me. I moved on to lunch ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I was excited to eat this because Nashville hot is my favorite but this was not unfortunately. Its was placed on sourdough bread no problem there. Once again it seemed the oil was too high or they broiled it too much. The breading had weird taste to it that threw off the chicken. The Nashville hot sauce was the main issue. Idk why it’s called Nashville hot because it is not. Chilis has a better sauce than this I would even throw KFC in that equation as well. It’s topped with purple cabbage coleslaw with green onions and carrots. The sour taste was there again. I did not enjoy the...
Read morei'll start by saying, the baristas were very kind & had great attitudes, so this isn't anything to harm however the public views them as individuals, now for the real review:
as a former barista & a dedicated coffee enthusiast, when i saw this coffee spot / bar connected to the biggest Half Priced Book store i'd ever come across, i knew after shopping i'd have to give it a try. i saw a really cute outdoor seating area there as well, lit with small table torches - it looked legit!
so, my fiancé & i ordered two vanilla cold brews with cold foam, a parmesan croissant & a monkey bread muffin.
right at the first sip, the cold brews were extremely tart. we agreed they tasted like dates. bitter as well. it also had absolutely no cold foam in it, which maybe if it did then it would have been balanced with some sweetness. after a couple more sips, we both tossed them.
now for the food, the monkey bread muffin was dry, old & lacked traditional monkey bread flavors. my 9 year old, who will typically be the first to enjoy any sweet, said he would rather let the Devil tickle his toes in Hell before having another bite. (he's a jokester)
the parm croissant lacked flakiness, surprisingly for a rather flakey pastry. other than some lightly shredded parm on top, it just lacked flavor. the consistency of the food was just a total let down.
all in all, i should've just tried La Madeline or some place that's better at french baking.
i noticed that whoever responds to the reviews on this Google Page is also kind of rude & condescending. like i stated before, the girls working there were sweet, pretty, kind. i don't blame them because the owners have terrible recipes, it's not their fault.
i definitely wouldn't recommend this spot, save you're $27 for two pastries & two drinks for...
Read moreI came for the first time from a video I saw someone recommended from Tiktok, I got here around 8:10 am, and I asked how did it work. I was told that I can sit in work from the restaurant part by the host, who was lovely, and I was sat in Jennifer's section. There were a sprinkle of people who were also doing work from here that were here prior to me, they were not rushed or talked to several times about leaving the table soon. I'm currently still here and it is 10:31am, I was asked twice if I was ordering, I said not at the moment, the 2nd time asked Jennifer let me know that I would have to free her table if I wasn't eating. I never said I wasn't going to order, but I just wasn't ready, I was actually in a meeting with my boss. I expressed to the host before leaving that I felt like it was a bit directed as I am an African American and the other guests inside working were Caucasian. The hosts came by after Jennifer went to her to tell me there's a 2 hour limit, I expressed to her how the way I was treated wasn't ideal and as someone who use to serve and bartend, I understand however, there's a way to talk to guests, and they were not busy enough to ask me to me, as there are still empty tables all around me. I had to ask Jennifer several times for refills, water, napkins, and condiments, she didn't come to ask me how was my food or anything and had a noticeable attitude. My boss even made a statement about it to me. This was my first time here & it will be my last and I will make sure to tell the people I know not to patronize this place. I was never offered to speak to anyone else about my...
