I will post a very thorough review once my issues are resolved.
We had our wedding at Marie Gabrielle last Friday and everything went very well, no big complaints there. Everyone had fun, the food and the venue is top notch.
I am having an issue now with customer service; I can't get anyone on the phone to go over the final bill (which has already been paid/posted to my account) for which we were over charged $2,153.23. I have been waiting for a call, email, text, fax, telegraph or some type of communication from BILLY DE LA ROSA, the Director of Catering, for 5 days now but she doesn't seem very interested in speaking with us now. I must note that she, BILLY DE LA ROSA, was super nice last week and quick to respond when I called her for payment but now I can't get her to pick up the phone. This is extremely upsetting and unprofessional. You would not expect it from a place that costs over $21,000 for 5 hours of service.
I will try to contact their corporate office and try to speak to someone that can help and if that doesn't work out I may have to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the attorney general. Someone should be able to do something about it.
I really hope this can be resolved because even though the wedding was great, this has left a very bad taste in our mouth and I doubt that we'd be able to recommend the place to anyone.
Update to come...
Billy emailed on Saturday, May 14th apologizing and acknowledging the overcharge. She also said that we would have a credit in our account no later than Tuesday, May 17. It's been over a week and I am still waiting. Got Amex involved and they are trying to...
Read moreI had my wedding at Marie Gabrielle a few weeks ago and I really cannot recommend them as a wedding venue. The staff were comically disorganized throughout the entire planning process. They would not respond to our emails/questions for weeks on end, and made so many massive mistakes from day 1 through to the wedding day. Their event coordinator was so bad she got fired 3 days prior to our wedding. Some of the more egregious issues we encountered include: (1) they gave us the wrong venue dimensions so we had to redo our entire seating chart ON the wedding day which was super stressful, (2) it took over an hour to feed our guests, the veggie dishes came with zero sides on them (even though we paid for sides), half the sides were not even cooked, and they forgot to serve about $300 worth of wedding cake, (3) they ran out of liquor even though we paid for an open bar, (4) during our food selection process, they just arbitrarily decided to raise the price of every dish by $10 one day and didn't even tell us, we just caught it because we're careful (this information was not in their pricing packet, they refused to explain why, and they refused to put us in touch with higher ups to discuss why the prices were raised). I could go on and on about all of the ridiculous sh*t that happened while planning with them but it would take a year. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the venue is beautiful. Unless you are super committed to this exact spot in Dallas and are willing to put up with a bunch of nonsense and potentially have a super screwed up wedding, I would absolutely avoid this place...
Read moreSeriously, I can't say it with enough conviction. Your wedding will be absolute perfection! The venue coordinator, Glenda, and her staff are 100% extraordinary. We were married there last weekend and I have gotten a million and one compliments about how beautiful the grounds are and how smoothly the entire night went. Dream wedding. Yes, it's probably not the cheapest venue in Dallas, but it is absolutely worth the money. It includes a ceremony in the garden (picture white folding chairs standing out amongst the trees, a chandelier hanging over your head at the altar, etc), reception space either inside/outside, plated dinner of DELICIOUS chef-prepared food, open bar with wine service during dinner (you know your guests will love that), and SO MUCH MORE! This is the kind of place that when a guest left their table at dinner, someone would come by to fold their napkin and place it on the back of their chair. Just as an example, it started misting in the middle of our ceremony (that's good luck, right?)and by the time we even said "I do", the staff had moved all the dinner tables/chairs inside before the centerpieces were ruined. Like clockwork. Everyone was extremely impressed and they made us look like rockstars. Couldn't have asked for more! Just take a tour of the grounds and I promise you'll be hooked. Best....
