The two bouncers at the door last Saturday turned my friends (who’ve been there multiple times) and myself (first timer) away for dress code. Directly behind the bouncer stand there were folks dressed similarly to us, casually clothing. I’m disabled and use a cane to get around and wasn’t expecting such rude response to our friendly approach. The site, social media, and menus don’t display a dress code. I’m happy to comply with something but your bouncers claimed they wanted “after dinner guests”, sadly that’s exactly who we were. No specifics were given on how to adjust or what this “after dinner” look could be. We left to not cause trouble but were all heartbroken with bad tastes in our mouths for the establishment.
Update: after emailing the bar after zero reply, I received a text from management. I requested a phone call but management began to text me about how other disabled guests were able to follow dress code and they did not have a policy that reflects any accessibility. My shoes were sandals and the manager claimed the bouncers were not only fine to turn me away without explanation this is what I should expect from them. I’m not sure why he continued texting after asking several times to call because texting is too difficult with my disability. The message log is damning to say the very least. It’s not about “never coming back”, they were more keen to be unkind than caring to disabled people. It’s obvious they don’t think we fit into their idea of patrons. What’s the point of dining in the area if I can’t have access to the bars...
Read moreTipsy Alchemist is one of my favorite spots in Dallas. If I am ever in the mood for an amazing cocktail they got my back. The extensive knowledge of cocktails from the Bartenders is insane. Ivan is one of my favorite bartenders there, if you ever have the opportunity to go here I would suggest the mad hatter which is one of their signature cocktails. My personal favorite is a gimlet and they make that drink A1. Everyone in this establishment is amazing, from the cocktail waitress to the managers they all do a good job of making Tipsy Alchemist the bar I love and enjoy. I would like to give a shout out to Ivan, Aaron and Isiah. Ivan’s knowledge on Italian spirits and liquors is insane, he really loves to learn about the culture of the spirit and it shows in his knowledge. Aaron is an amazing manager there, he is a very understanding person with a lot of bartending knowledge backing him up so he understands hospitality. Isiah is an amazing mixologist, the drinks that come out of this man are spectacular. If you are ever in the mood for an amazing cocktail I would recommend Tipsy Alchemist...
Read moreI reserved a section for the night. The night was going well until the server Kayla closed me out for no reason. I thought maybe she was leaving so I didn't argue it. Then the hostess or someone they call V came over and asked me to leave. When I asked why I was told my section had been resold. So in the mist of me celebrating my bday I was kicked out of the section that I reserved for the night. As a couple of my friends had left, V did move me to another smaller section which allowed me to stay. A manager came over to apologize but no one seemed to know why Kayla closed me out especially since I never asked her for the check and was trying to order another drink. She also made each of my guest give her their card which I was told is not customary. Appears Kayla didn't want me or my guests there. While I appreciate my 2nd server Laura and Luis who kept both section I was in clear and clean..I can't tell folks to reserve here without making sure Kayla isn't their server. It was disappointing but hey..I had a good time there for most of the night so I'm...
