I'm usually a fan of Merit's drinks, but have unfortunately noticed some really bad patterns in service after frequenting several of their locations.
They always seem understaffed which in turn makes the people who are working less friendly and accommodating. They also take a very long time to prepare orders at peak times, unapologetically.
Per #1 - this week, I placed a mobile order for pickup, which I do often as a busy mom. My order was ready 20 mins after my pickup time, 35 mins after my order was placed. The 2 girls working were very very behind, and there is not adequate waiting space when this happens. They didn't bother to heat my food order and the girl who made my drink was asking the other for instructions on how to make my drink while also ringing up other customers in between every single step. After my long wait, my drink was incorrect and inedible, it was so bad.
Their best pastries came from Bisou Bisou, which is now closed. They do not carry the same items at all of their locations, which is annoying to me.
All that to say - not a bad place to camp out and work if you're in no rush for your order and...
Read moreHow do I miss the days when craft coffee was popular in Dallas. From Crooked Tree to Oak Lawn Coffee, customer service and great coffee were always the pinnacle of these shops against the corporate wrath that is Starbucks.
After ordering for two people, I kindly asked for a to-go cup for water for my little brother, since the ones at the water fountain don’t have lids and are more for dining in.
The barista said she would have to charge me….for a plastic cup…after I paid 20$ for coffee and pastries….yeah….no.
Aside from the Dirty Ice Chai Latte being quite mid, I would recommend anyone to go visit some other shop. If Merit Coffee has turned to some sort of corporate machine where they have to charge for everything after charging premium price on their “craft” coffee, I rather go...
Read moreI’m really reluctant to post because they have decent coffee and it is a good location but after getting the same barista with a depressive, condescending attitude for the fifth time I’ve had enough. There have been some well mannered, courteous baristas there but the way this one particular worker just looks like she wished everyone would just disappear and quit bothering her with your drink order has made me take my money elsewhere. I don’t know the employee’s name but if the manager/owner actually cares about their business you should probably give that person a chance to adjust her attitude or let her go. BTW this was around 3:50pm on May 8th. She’s the taller one. She’s costing...
